Just finished reading Jesus, CEO - Using Ancient Wisdom For Visionary Leadership by Laurie Beth Jones.

If you are interested in servant leadership and have not read Laurie Beth's books I highly recommend them for personal growth.

Laurie list several Affirmations for Leaders at the end of this book. Here are the first ten to help you start your day out positive and moving towards your goal of getting to the top:

I proudly say I AM, knowing clearly my strengths and God-given talents. I repeat my strengths to myself often, knowing my words are my wardrobe.

I have learned in my own wilderness what my strengths are. I use "desert times" to get clearer on my calling and my true goals.

I am clear about my mission and spend time working on and accomplishing what is deepest and truest and most inspiring.

I shape my own destiny. What I believe, I become. What I believe, I can do.

What I say and ask for is accomplished in amazing ways and with amazing speed.

I keep in constant contact with my Higher Power, knowing that I need added insight to see the road up ahead.

I do the difficult things. I accomplish difficult and challenging tasks with strength and resolve, knowing that these jumps are placed in the arena for training and strengthening.

I do not need or seek others' approval. I am internally connected to my Higher Power and listen to the still, small voice that alone knows my best path.

I commit my passion to my cause, knowing that passion is the power that creates new life, new joys, and new accomplishments for myself and others.

I see things differently and am always willing to look at situations in new and enlivening ways.

Some of the lessons learned from this book -

As a dedicated servant team leader it's important to mobilize the team for action by stepping back from being in control. Always allow people to learn and grow in their own way. Delegate by teaching them to fish which means to duplicate without you. Do not be so focused on yourself being at the top that you are not allowing others to get to the top with you.

Everyday there are managers and leaders who try to climb their way to the top using other people as their stepladder.

Servant leadership is about serving other people not yourself. The more you put the focus on others the more confident you become.

Plug the team into a proven system of power where they find their way to duplicate your efforts and become servant leaders themselves.

The temptation to have everything done all at once and perfectly often leads to procrastination, inactivity, or outright paralysis. We see this often in Network Marketing don't we? People seem to have a really hard time making a decision to join or not to join, start or not to start? All because they believe they don't know everything right now.

Do you need to see the whole picture before you can move forward? Try taking it one step at a time! Just do it!

Believe in yourself and stick to the mission.

Give praise and recognition to others.

Do not judge others.

Have a passionate commitment to the cause.

Have a plan and take action.

Be human and let others know of your weaknesses. When you do this it encourages the team to know they can get there too.

Be bold, be visible and take one step at a time taking everyone to the top with you!

Personally I'm working on myself everyday to be a better servant leader and looking forward to seeing you at the top!

Are U Branding Online with a Blog?

A blog is much like a personal website only its focus is more of a personal journal or diary that's opened up for anyone who chooses to read it.

A blog is a wonderful complement to your personal website, newsletters, articles, and overall building your personal brand online.

Your blog writing will center around a specific topic related to your target market. Each post will contain your personal thoughts, experiences, resources, training, coaching relevant to your topic. The key is to develop your style of writing and anyone can do it. When I started online in 1996 I had no degrees or writing experience.

I just dove in and did it! Today I'm a published MLM author. Who would have thought?

Much like the personal website, a blog is another tool to share who you are and begin establishing relationships. However, with a blog, your site visitors can leave comments and the relationship becomes a two way conversation and connects you to your readers.

Everyone seems to be moving in the direction of blogging online so if you have a business and would like to promote your business online, this might be the perfect time to learn about blogging or if you already have a blog why not get paid to blog or self-fund your blog? Especially in this economy when it's time to think
outside the box! So many people now days are looking for extra ways to earn more income and pay expenses.

By making connections with other entrepreneurs online, I've come across a new blogging network that actually pays down 5 levels to refer the blogging service to other people - (I just imported all of my blog content from here at blogspot). All of my content for the last five years imported right into the ismyblogs.name blog network which uses Wordpress, with a ton of added features.

When I write a post on the ismyblog.name blogging network there is a share button with about 50+ networks to post my blog to such as - Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Ping.fm, Yahoo, Plaxo, Linkedin. Viral Power...

Be sure you register for some of these networks if you have not already do so. For instance with ping.fm you can post a message and viral power it out to more that one network at a time depending on which networks you are registered with. When I post something on ping.fm it gets posted on both Twitter and Facebook saving me time.

11. Create links to your blog -

- put a link in your email signature file

- on your personal website or any profile pages within social
communities

- Article Resource Box

- in your newsletter

- Business Cards

-put links to your primary business on your blog

12. Blogging is another valuable tool for online networking and branding. Comment on other blogs related to your target market, build your credibility, and drive traffic to your blog. When you post on another persons blog, your name/ID profile will be a hyperlinked back to you.

Finding BIG Fish!

It has taken some time to finally realize the importance of seeking out seriously motivated, self starting people that are looking for a new business opportunity right now. In other words, they are already in the looking zone and open to new ideas and ways to increase their revenue streams.

In the beginning I would sponsor anyone that would sign the paperwork! Everyone was a target! Not such a good thing, hey what do you expect from a newbie and besides that’s what we were taught to do.

Most of these people were really not serious and did not realize that a business takes consistent effort, persistence and focus. There’s no get rich quick over night success opportunities out there unless you plan to win the lottery someday and that someday may never come. It takes years of hard work and initiative.

If someone tells you they will build your business, or this system will build your business, turn the other way because that’s not true. Network Marketing is a real business just like any other business . You decide how much time to take.

There's no free lunch and no such thing as a downline building club. Emails come in from people I’ve never met saying “you have to join this X builder program now because you have a 100 people in your downline already!” Oh yeah? So who are these 100 people and where did they come from?

Personally I decided years ago to take on the attitude of Showshawme, an ordinary fellow who started years ago in Cell Tech. He is listed in Richard Poe's book Wave 3, under chapter 6, Catch a Big Fish. This particular story caught my eye because there are some valuable lessons to be learned about putting fishing lines in the water. Here's a little snippet -

"Showshawme is a "big fish". He's the sort of catch for which every new distributor in network marketing is avidly angling. Yet Showshawme is no superman. He has no special skills or unusual techniques. He’s just an ordinary fellow that does some extraordinary fishing.

How did he do it? Simple. Showshawme recruited other big fish. He says "my income didn't come from sponsoring lots of people," he says, "It came from sponsoring only two or three main lines. And from those two or three people, hundreds of thousands of other people have come."

Showshawme targeted his fish with a shrewd eye to their personal and professional spheres of influence. He knew exactly who he wanted to work with and how they would help him build his business. Then Showshawme zeroed in on his prospects with relentless persistence and won them to his cause. (he built relationships and made friends with people that he wanted to work with, people that had great circles of influence.

So the morale of this story is? Knowing whom to target and when to turn on the pressure are key skills that, when mastered, have the potential to turbo charge your business with an extraordinary Butterfly Effect.

Focus on learning these skills that will help you personally become a more effective leader, sponsor, Network Marketing Professional and develop into a fisher of people!

What is more valuable - time or money?

Bluebonnets everywhere! And they just keep on producing all over the place once they've been planted!

Jim Rohn said "Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money, but you can't get more time."

It's the end of March and another super month of people joining our business to take back control of their lives!

It’s also the beginning of spring and the middle of the current Prime Recruiting Season.

When done correctly, the productivity you achieve over the next 90 days can cause your downline to be in full-blown momentum by the middle of summer. Then by next fall during the next Prime Recruiting Season, your downline could explode from all the extra seed planting you did in the spring.

Be sure that you have a good supply of consistent leads flowing through your pipeline. If you do not let me know and I will refer you to some excellent lead sources. Every month I buy two shares in our team Pay Per Click coop and we are signing people up every month from this coop using our team online marketing website system.

I caution those who are only using social media to depend on for building their business. This can be a deceiving business building method because it’s just that – ‘social’ – media.

How many people have signed up this month from social media methods? I’ll answer that question for myself - none. We have however signed up several distributors from our pay per click leads and have several others who are interested.

What social media can do for your business is take up a lot of your valuable time. Time that could be spent in calling and connecting with real people who are interested in starting a business with you. These are people who have actually requested that you call them and assist them in starting a business. Why not be spending time with these people? They are out there waiting for you to pick up the phone and call them!

A social media connection usually already has a business so really all you could be doing is spinning your wheels with them. Yes it’s great to make a connection and build a relationship because you never know when someone you meet from social media could be in the looking zone that's true too.

I've been making connections online for over thirteen years and have never depended on social media solely to build my business. In fact, it's a very small piece of the pie. A sliver actually because of the saturation of the Internet over the years especially in this area.

The point I’m making here is if someone is depending totally on social media to build their business they may be ‘deceived’ and could end up with a very slow building business in the long run. So why not spread your seeds out?

The better way to build your business is with people who are in the looking zone. That means hot/warm market or cold market. You choose. The business will not build by itself and it will not build with social media alone.

It's important to consistently be putting people in your pipeline and then follow through and follow up and duplicate the same process with your team! If all there is is a bunch of social media groopies all hanging out socializing, then who's building a real business and more importantly who's mentoring the team?

Meantime -

1) If people wanted to make more money before, they really want to now.

2) Tax Refund checks are giving people the extra funds to get started.

3) People are looking and getting started. Someone is going to sell or sponsor them why not you?

4) When approached "correctly", most people are nice, pleasant, and interested especially when they requested to be called in the first place. Make sense?

We encourage distributors if you want to get your business to grow then double, triple, or do everything you can to multiply/duplicate your efforts. This means taking Massive Action in picking up your phone and calling people who have asked you to call and help them right now!

Focus On The Down Hill Result!

Are you always focusing on the pain of the uphill battle or looking forward to the prize when you finish going all the way to the top of the hill as you gaze back at the gorgeous view from the top!

I’m starting to get out and take walks again for exercise and just be out enjoying the sunshine, fresh air and nature. It’s been over two years since I’ve really done any work outs and it sure is tough! I knew it was not going to be easy and it’s going to hurt, no doubt. No pain no gain as they always says right? I’ve gained a few pounds since regaining my health back too and it’s time to focus on shaping up! There are a lot of hills here in Briafcliff too so it’s brutal on this new walker! Huff huff puff puff! Heeve Hooo up that hill I go!

Well today was time to put on the shorts and walking shoes and head out for a nice brisk walk. Opps, after getting out a ways it was a bit chillier than I thought even though the sun is really shinning. As I walked around the corner to the other street and saw the yard where I could have taken a short cut right into our back yard this small still voice said…. You just keep on walking focusing on the end results!

There’s one really big hill that my husband challenged me to walk up with him. Let me tell you I was huffing and puffing the entire way up, going slow and actually walking backwards so I could see the lake and not focus on how hard it was going up!!! When we got to the top it was the most beautiful view! I felt exhilarated! He said “now aren’t you glad you decided to go all the way?” Yes! Totally worth it! Each time now it gets easier too!

Some people are so afraid of the hills or taking to the road and getting out of their comfort zone because fear paralyzes them when focusing on how hard that uphill battle is going to be or what the cost will be to travel the road.

Why are some people scared to take chances or reach a little farther out of their comfort zone or continue that walk no matter how difficult the hills get or how big the challenges or the obstacles standing in their way?

Why is it that some people just keep charging ahead no matter what and some just keep blaming the economy, their job, their boss, their spouse, their kids, their dog, who knows what else because there's always some excuse or obstacle for some people to not achieve their dreams right? Something is always going to pop up and get in their way. News flash! Everyone has circumstances! Yet there are some people who do not let anything get in the way of accomplishing their dreams and goals. They see the up hill and focus on the result of the climb!

It’s never about the money either. People are always spending money on ‘stuff’ because it’s something they want. They may not even need this ‘stuff’ but by golly they’ll spend money on more junk. So why don’t they spend it on developing themselves, their health, or their business and what is the pay off if they don’t? They don’t become a leader, they stay broke, continue with bad health, out of shape, and their business does not duplicate.

Why not start focusing on the results you’re going to see once you get up that hill and when you step out and travel the roads to your company events! Get on the phone and start calling people to find out what their dreams and goals are too and ask how you can best support them in their downhill victory!

Are you going to take that chance and be at your next company event? And if not why not? What is really holding you back from being there and is it really something that can be overcome? What’s really stopping you from achieving your dreams and your full potential to become the best you can be?

Well, it's certainly not as much snow as some of you have had on the East coast but it's Beautiful especially here in Austin Texas the end of February!

The Birds and I really Enjoyed the moment!

Too bad the kids are all at school!

Spring is on the way and so is new life!

When you feel like life is beating you down here's a few practical spear-dodging tips Laurie Beth Jones mentions in her book -

1. Tighten up your relationship with God.
Saturate yourself with God's words of power and comfort, as David did when he was hiding out in the hills, as Jesus did in his final night in the Garden. This is ultimately the only relationship that matters, so make sure it is solid!

(I do this too with something as simple as watching all the birds in the back yard at the feeders when unbelievable snow in Austin is falling!)

2. Consider the source. Jesus knew what motivated his enemies, and he said so. They had no interest in his well-being. He kept that in mind at all times.

(God has your back so do not worry about what other people do or say! No matter who they are, they have no control over your life!)

3. Turn their questions back on them. Jesus was a master at getting to the heart of people by using the swords aimed at him to reveal others' hearts. "Are you the King of the Jews?" demanded one. And he replied, "Who do you think I am?" (Luke 22:66). "Isn't it against the law to heal on the Sabbath?" asked another. "If your neighbor's sheep fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, would you get it out?" he replied (Matthew 12:10-11).

4. Realize you don't have to respond to every insult. "And they spat on him saying, 'Prophesy to us. Who hit you?" And to this he answered not a word" (Matthew 26.:68)

(Sometimes silence is truly golden!)

5. Tell the truth. Jesus spoke the truth as he saw it, knowing that the truth would always set people free. When you tell the truth, you have nothing to fear.

6. Keep your eye on God's prize, not theirs. Remember, there is only one heart that you are responsible for pleasing, and it does not beat in any human breast.

The more Jesus grew in influence and power, the more he became a target. He very wisely ‘learned to deflect the spears and arrows. Proverbs 19:11 says…”A wise man restrains his anger and overlooks insults.”

People feel is MOST important in choosing a company?

The answer might surprise you as much as it did me! It’s not exactly what we've all been taught over the years. And you may be really inspired to know that for most, it’s NOT about the compensation plan.

Now maybe for those driven personalities, we call them the ‘Driven RED’ personality and money IS usually #1 for them. They are in command, always right, and not very compassionate. It’s their way or the highway! They are focused, goal oriented and intense. They usually have big egos, can be dominating and un-teachable. The important thing to realize is only about 15% of the people you come across will be of this personality and most people are a combination of various personalities to balance them out.

If our entire downline was RED we'd all be rich right?!!! That is if we can stand to be around them! That's why it's so great to have various personalities among your team! We certainly are not going to get along with everyone or like everyone, this is afterall a business right? At least that's how the driven Red sees it! They are not out to be your friend. In fact, most of their business relationships are just that strictly business. They do not allow too many people to get close.

Most people, about 35%, are the ‘Amiable Yellow’ or ‘Analytical Green’ and not as much focused on the money as they are on the people - ie: helping people, their purpose, the cause, we all need to get along, let’s be friends personality and of course the green analyticals want all the details and facts! These are the personalities you’re most likely going to run into when you're networking and you’ll want lot’s of them because they are usually quite dependable, loyal, patient and supportive team players.

Then some people just wanta to have fun!!! The ‘Expressive Blue’!

15% of the people you meet will be this personality or a combination of this and others. You’ll know them when you meet them! They love to party and socialize! They were born to network!!! They are also money motivated so yes the compensation plan is important but they also want to get to know who YOU are and they always want to have fun! They love to be the leader too so let them do their thing!

These guys and gals are also great story tellers which is a real asset in our business! People love hearing stories, we all relate to stories right? Find you some great story tellers and say to them “hey there are two kinds of people in the world, those who tell stories and those who get paid to tell stories!” Did I see a hand raised? The Blues are waving their hands! Me me me me!

You may come across a few of the top gun ‘get out of my way’ recruiters but they are far and few between. So try not to beat yourself up too much about it. When you do come across one of these true RED’s or a true BLUE RED, leave them alone and watch your business explode! Just remember if you’re in one of those pay plans with all this volume on one side you’re not going to get paid on it until you catch up on the other side! No free lunch gang! Still a good problem to have though huh?

Is It Snowing Where You Are?

We've been watching the weather channel to keep tabs on all our friends living on the east coast!

WOW! Remember those snow days when we lived for ten years in northern West Virginia! Our boys loved sliding in the snow down the hill in front of our house.

Here's our lonely little snow sled from the 50's sitting in our living room here in Austin Texas with no snow here for it to come out and play.

This happens to be the same sled that my husband Clif played on when he was a little boy and our two boys Luke and James had so much fun playing in the snow when we lived in northern West Virginia back in the early 90's!

So many wonderful times of us all sledding down the hill in front of our home there in Charles Town W VA! What great memories!!

NEWS Flash Sue Seward Internet Marketer goes to a live meeting!

Yep you heard it right! Sue Seward actually went to a live in your face local meeting tonight! Got the picture here to prove it!

And that's just what we learned to do, how to find hot local prospects!

It was actually worth it to brave the rush hour traffic with all the fussy worker bees in drizzling rain not knowing where the heck I was going! Got a late start because a prospect called right before leaving so chatted for a bit, got her on her way to finding her passion and taking the next action step and then hit the road!

What a trip! Total bumper to bumper traffic, reminded me exactly of WHY I work at home! haha!

Wow though did I find out some simple skills that anyone can learn and heck it was fun! Ok you're thinking dang that girl needs to get out more! hahaha!

Had no idea where I was going after getting on the big freeway, missed my turn, calling the hotel to see who could get me in the right direction, couldn't talk on the cell while driving with all the worker bees on my butt, almost had two collisions, got in the left turn lane and then went straight while a car was turning left and missed me by like an inch!!! Geez! I think God had me in the palm of his hand!!! Holy COW what a fricken mess!

Finally got there 15 minutes late and because of that actually got in for no charge because the host came out and turns out we got to talking briefly and I had met her online back during the holidays when checking out some MEETUP groups in Austin! She is the host of one and she was hosting this workshop! So she says YOU are my guest and gives me my twenty back! Hows that for karma?

Then at the end Big Al says he's got some CD's we can get to take home for a donation of.... Yep twenty bucks!

The workshop was full of great tips and skills training from a master who has actually like built a downline! No motivation at all! Just pure D GRADE A SKILLS BABY!

Stuff you can take back to your team and help them.... let me see what's that term we use again....D-U-P-L-I-C-A-T-E!!!!

Well of course I met some cool people, they were all networkers for petes sakes! Made some great business connections and would I go back regardless of the traffic??

ABSOLUTELY in a New York minute!!!

It does feel good though to be back home in my fuzzy slippers! hmmmm.. Video blogging time???

Why Brand YOUR Passion?

After networking and making connections, building relationships online for over twelve years it’s come to my attention that email is sort of dead don't you think? How much real connection email do you receive now days? How many people are actually connecting and building relationships online using email? Most of what we receive is spam wouldn't you agree?

Geez, how much Viagra can a person use anyway?!! hahaha!

I still remember back when starting online in 1996 all we had was email and a few chat rooms and forum message boards and of course the tried and true telephone which is always one of our best tools for networking right?

A lot of people come to me and ask my opinion on having a personal website and what’s more important - having a personal website or a replicated marketing system?

Well actually both can help you depending on your goals, your target market and what you are truly passionate about. The main thing is that you start to realize how important it is to brand YOU and you can do this several ways and you don’t have to spend hours, days or weeks building a personal website to do it!

The best thing you can do when you start your enterprise is to be up and running as quickly as possible and getting yourself and your business out there for people to see. Building a personal website can take hours and hours and sometimes weeks to develop. Having a replicated marketing system can be set up the first day you start your enterprise. So I always recommend this option to anyone who wants to have their business website up and running day one.

Depends on your purpose and your end goal so think about what that is first.

This is also why it's crucial to your success to have a plan, a real business plan with your passion spelled out, your goals and your action sets planned out on paper. Have you done this yet? If not I highly recommend doing this first. If you need some coaching on this get in touch and I'm happy to help you brainstorm some ideas.

The reason you want to brand yourself and your passion is because people join you first. They want to know who you are and why you are doing what you do. What are you passionate about? Why should they partner with you? You can do this too by putting up a Blog which are becoming very popular these days. Some people are choosing to do video blogging. Be sure you do what best fits your style. Video may not be your thing and that’s perfectly ok. Writing may be! Or audio may be your thing! Go with your own passion and what floats your boat.

Perhaps some of these other reaching out avenues will be something you’ll gravitate to next as you start to get your feet wet in one area you may advance onto learning something new. Just remember if you’re not passionate about what you’re doing people will pick up on that! So go with what lights your fire because this is what draws more people near to you!

Everything always starts with a little spark!

If you feel you’re not a writer don’t worry, I wasn’t when starting out either twelve years ago! In fact, I had no degrees or writing experience at all. What I have always written about is my own experiences. It’s not fiction, it’s not about what I’m dreaming about, and it’s what I’ve done! I also write like I talk so sometimes may not have the best grammar, remember I didn’t go to school to be an English teacher.

I’m just a little ole networker by way of school of hard knocks!

Writing and posting to your blog is not really about being inspired as much as it is about being passionate about what you do because when you’re passionate about what you do it becomes easier to express yourself. People are attracted to enthusiastic people who are passionate about what they do!

Remember the movie 'Passion Of The Christ'? Jesus passion was working for the Lord. His passion was people and he actually decided to leave his father’s carpentry business which he was very good at to follow this passion. You know people must have thought he was crazy to leave such a great paying job! Jesus however was not that interested in making money as he was saving souls. This doesn't mean though that God doesn't want anyone making money. On the contrary! The Bible says God wants us to prosper and it says it in more places than one and the reason is so that we can be generous on every occasion!

Recently I met another professional woman here locally that left her medical career to pursue a career in becoming a Certified Life Coach. Her family and colleagues thought she was nuts! Becoming a Life Coach however is her passion which is to help other people unlock their true potential and she’s very good at it. Why? Because she is so darn passionate about it! You can tell by listening to her in one of her coaching sessions. She brings out the best in people. I was one of the ones who experienced watching her bring out the best in people attending one of her goal setting workshops. She truly is going for her passion!

For me it’s always been about people too. Helping them find their passion, helping them set up their own enterprise, be their own boss, coaching others and helping them to unlock their true potential for success.

It’s really ok to brand yourself because you are unique and there’s only one you. God made you just the way you are and has a plan for your life. Search deep inside and find what your passion is and express it by sharing what you love with others.

Maybe your passion is your kids, your partner, you love gardening, cooking, nature, travel, reading, skydiving, mountain climbing, running, walking, fitness, health, being your own boss, teaching and training others…you get the picture right?

Combine this passion with what you’re doing to earn a living and write about this on your blog!

Sometimes I’m driving down the road just out running the usual errands to the grocery store, the post office or office supply store. Not so exciting right? BAM something comes into my head and I’ve got to write it on my blog like I’m sharing with you now!

I write notes on sticky notes! Had about 7 or 8 of them all pasted on my desk to put into this blog post! Just jot down thoughts during your day to day routine and it will come to you what to post on your blog.

Once you set your blog up you will get noticed once you start posting it on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Best Networker, thatmlmbeat, and others you’ll find online. You can always Google to find more places to post your blog,. Name your blog which should center on your passion.

On your blog you’ll have your profile which tells a little about you and your passion, photo of yourself and links to your enterprise and any other passions you have. One of mine happens to be Gluten free cooking. Not only do I love to cook, I’m 100% gluten free now after about a year of working on being compliant due to health reasons. It’s been a real struggle and I know it can be for thousands of others. I’ve been there and can relate what it’s like to go to the grocery store and just stand there and stare at the shelves wondering what in the heck can I eat?!!!

Now back to putting up your Blog -

Be sure you always use a photo of yourself to brand YOU! No silly avatars or photos of your products. This will not brand YOU. Remember YOU brand YOU so put on a photo of the REAL passionate you!

One of the other things to do is always be REAL, be authentic, be passionate about what you're doing, just be yourself and people will be attracted to you and want to connect with you and eventually may become interested in what you do and they may just be a great connection. Everyone is a connection, remember that! Even if they are not interested in your particular business think of them as a great connection! You never know what could transpire from one great connection!

We Can Do It!

Just finished reading Gary Vay-ner-chuk's book 'Crush It' and following through on some of his ideas for networking and branding.

We've sure come a longggg way since 1996 when I started online with email, a few chat rooms and forums and of course the good ole telephone. We were doing social networking wayyy back then before it was even invented. In fact, we invented it!

Although I've built most of my home business online, I'm also getting back out face to face and networking locally utilizing networking websites and resources such as >http://www.meetup.com and >http://www.yourlocalcity.com

One of the main reason's for my success in MLM/Network Marketing happens to be because of the self-development.

Leaders are paid well and that's about the gist of it. So if you'd like to be paid for what you do decide to become a leader and your income will likely increase.

Work a job and you'll get wages. Profit by developing yourself and a residual income that keeps coming in even when you are not able to work. One of my favorite mentors, Jim Rohn always said, Profits are better than wages!

Even through some serious health challenges for the last two years when not able to work sometimes for months at a time my income never stopped coming in. Why? Because for the first 3 to 5 years I hustled on developing and branding myself. I never gave up because the alternative was to go to work for SOMEONE else and helping them achieve THEIR dream.

Being told when to jump and how high was never an option and neither was giving up on my own dreams and goal to develop as an entrepreneur and a leader. Started out as a stay at home mom with no income, no degrees, no corporate background, no business experience, no contacts or credibility and not much confidence.

Have a BIG dream and then become the person to achieve the dream.

Because of the decision to develop into a servant leader, I now have the pleasure of giving back by coaching others on achieving their dreams and goals and doing it only when they really have the passion to do so. That's the key point, having passion for something that you would do even if you weren't getting paid, although being paid is so much sweeter isn't it?!! My passion was never to have to work for anyone again. What's yours?

Never let anyone tell you something won't work! Prove them wrong or you can always just settle to go to work for the government as a robot.

Remember, A dream is just a dream, it's not true as long as it's still just a dream. A goal however is a dream with a deadline to get something done!

Crushin It & Being A Servant Leader

Just ordered Gary Vaynerchuk’s book ‘Crush It’ and looking forward to learning some good stuff from it to become a more solid servant leader in the Network Marketing profession. Servant being the operative word.

Make sure first of all to give family quality time! This is one of the #1 rules Gary mentions in the chapter from his book listed on Amazon. I've learned this lesson the hard way branding online and developing a full time career income in the Network Marketing profession for the last thirteen years.

I decided to read Gary’s book to find out what it’s all about. Sometimes we get so into 'crushin it' mode that we tend to crush the people we love the most. That happened with my own family so I’m speaking here from experience.

In the beginning years of building a business online I was so focused and passionate about one thing and that was to work very hard to create a career income in Network Marketing and do it by branding online. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being passionate and it’s one of the reasons for my success and the success of many others in our profession.

There’s a price to pay however and for me it was putting my family and close friends on the back burner for years while I was developing a career! We all know too that this can happen in any career a person is intently focused on building.

Time can never be gotten back gang! Once it’s gone it’s gone forever. Our children are only young ONCE! We may only get one chance to share something with a spouse or a friend that is precious.

Crushing it is a good thing and being passionate is too as long as we are not crushing others to get where we want to go and get what we want when we want it. This can be a difficult lesson to learn. There are plenty of divorces to prove it. Fortunately I’ve not experienced a divorce. I do know for a fact though it has happened for many others in our profession because people may not have put their family first and decided to crush it to the max no matter what or who gets hurt or stepped on in the process. There’s a difference in crushin it and becoming obsessed with crushin where other people are affected.

Gary even mentions family as top priority! It’s also not just a matter of loving them and giving them money and material things. We’ve got to give them our time, quality time meaning our whole attention when we’re with them! That means when we’re with them we are with THEM, not our laptop, our blackberry, our blog, our videos, our emails, our conference calls, or our business.

It’s a hard thing to do when we become obsessed with constantly being at the top no matter what the cost or damage it causes anyone else who gets in the way of us obtaining our income goals.

This happens when we crush others along the way to get to the top because of intense focus on self and our own passion. This focus can sometimes turn into an obsession with getting to the top no matter what and anyone who gets crushed along the way becomes road kill on the super branding highway!

We start telling ourselves its ok, others got in our way, they were just not passionate enough, they didn’t get it and do not deserve our time or they do not deserve to be at the top because they are not as focused as we are. Besides its important to be number one no matter what, that’s the goal because of passion we tell ourselves. This can turn out to be a deceptive lie when other people are crushed along the way, especially our own families and people who are in our downline which we also refer to as our family.

Any time a person has to take away from another person to stay on top people are crushed along the way and this is not right no matter how we crush it. Eventually what goes around comes back around and that’s eventually how the cookie crumbles! Remember it can get very lonely being the only crusher at the top.

Balance is always the way to success in anything we do! It’s great to be passionate about what we do, help others too along the way that sincerely WANT our help, put our family first, fall in love with what we do meaning – being a servant leader who’s available to help others get and stay at the top income level too!

Besides it’s also much more fun at the top with family and a bunch of encouraging friends and colleagues there with us on the beach right?!!

Time For A Job? Not!!!

During some serious health challenges of the last two years when I could not work, sometimes for months at a time, to the point of almost having to walk with a cane, my income never stopped! Thank God for Network Marketing and residual income.

It all happened from working really hard those first 3 to 5 years to develop a solid full time career income and because I never gave up when the going got tough!

Here's a funny little experience I had recently ....

About three months ago I got some wild hair up my butt and decided to look for a JOB! haha!

I know I know!! I must have been out of my fricken mind man!

Think I must have been going stir crazy after being laid up for so long at home, moving to a new house way out by the lake with no friends so thought heck maybe I'll look for a SALES commissionable job where I can be out in the public networking and make some connections.

Well I found this sales job on Craigs List and then had to write up a resume.

Have not been on a JOB interview or had a JOB as an employee in over 17 years, what am I going to put on that dang resume!!!

Well, I did put together a resume highlighting all my experience of the last seventeen years and guess what it was all about?

YEP MLM, leadership experience and all the income for the last twelve years developed in this profession!

Soon as I dropped it off in person to the receptionist 10 minutes later my cell phone rings and it’s the lady manager calling me for an interview! LOL!

I thought dang, I’m pretty good at writing a resume! Haha!

Then I thought utt---ohh now I gotta really go on this interview! What do I wear?!! I thought oh well how hard can it be? I’m a networker right?!

When I got in there, it was like being a fish out of water!

All I could invision sitting there in the HOT seat during this interview was a ball and chain going around my legs, both of them! This lady was very controlling and dominating and she made that very clear that SHE was the boss! Ohhh nooo this was definitely not my cup of tea! Talk about being out of your comfort zone!

Oh I was my usual smooth outgoing networking self all right. She didn’t seem to like that though that I was in control of my life. So what in the world was I doing sitting in there like an employee waiting to be told when to jump and how high!

Suffice it to say I could not wait to get out of that office and thought thank GOD for my MLM business as I RAN out of there with my hair on FIRE!!! I don't need this BS! I've got a great business! What the heck was I thinking???!!!!

Ok so it was a great lesson letting me know how good I have it! Sometimes we have to go on the other side to realize what we have don’t we?! So I got knocked off the horse for awhile, so what big deal, just get back on and ride baby ride to the end! It ain’t over till God says it’s over!

So I decided right then and there girl you're gonna get busy again building your home business and build it bigger and better than before! No JOB for me baby!

It's YOUR Time!

Well here we are at the end of another year and what a year huh gang?!! For many across our great country it's not been such a grand ole time. Many have lost their jobs, their pensions, their retirement and their hopes and dreams!

Here's what I just read in Joel Osteen's new book - 'It's Your Time' -

"God is saying to you: "If you will persevere even though it's difficult and believe even though you don't see anything happening, then I will step in and do what you can't do. I will make up for lost time. I will propel you to new levels. I will bring supernatural opportunities. I will open new doors. I will put the right people in your path. I will heal the sick. I will release you from debt and lack. The chains of addictions and wrong thinking will be broken off of you."

I remember when starting my home business back in 1996 with no income of my own, no corporate background, no degrees, no credibility, no contacts, no business experience and a little bit of confidence especially on the Internet which was quite a new experience. Not to mention a very cold market which sometimes was a bit scary.

Wayyy back then all we had was email, a few aol chat rooms and the telephone. We didn't have all these social networks although we were doing social networking before that name was even invented! haha!

What I did have though was a sincere desire to develop a profitable career in Network Marketing where I could have freedom to choose and not have anyone else choosing for me. A career where I have the opportunity to encourage and help other people achieve their dreams and goals.

Just starting out with nothing and building it little by little, inch by inch, never giving up through all the frustrations, disappointments, discouragement, downhill, uphill, around the hill and back up again. These past few years there were some serious health challenges to over come too that kept me from working for sometimes months at a time. God has healed me and He will heal you too!

Even though I was not able to work, my income never stopped. I earn a full time income all because of the decision to take a chance, believe , start from scratch and work at it for the first 3 to 5 years to develop a residual income that eventually paid off even when not able to work. With a job I would have been fired. If I was only retailing products I would have gone broke.

I encourage you now to get serious , set you plan for 2010 and decide to take action to activate your plan and your faith. Never give up on God and most importantly on yourself and then go out and encourage others to believe too! I believe in YOU!

All it takes is belief for miracles to happen! It's your time!

Surveys conducted by the Direct Selling Association (DSA) revealed that approximately 85.2% of direct sellers are women. For all you men out there, who are reading this article, think of all the excellent opportunities you have to sponsor more women to grow your organizations. Keep reading because all you guys will become empowered too!

Women are wired to network! Maybe it’s because most women have this ingrained sense of nurturing and the ability to put another person’s needs before their own. Women are usually great listeners and have been known to have eyes behind their head! Perhaps this starts when a woman has a baby and that baby depends totally on his or her mom for support therefore mom must put her needs aside to tend to her child first.

This article was started on November 16th, my Mom’s 81st birthday. She was one of the first women who encouraged me to reach out to help and encourage others and not let anyone steal the dream. She has always been a great listener with a keen sense of women’s intuition and yes she has eyes behind her head!

Network Marketing can be the perfect choice for women who tend to struggle with the decision to build a career outside the home or build a business from within the home embracing the entire family. Placing our children in the care of others is not a pleasant thought is it? I know it wasn’t for me personally. This is one of the main reasons why I chose to build a career in Network Marketing and focus on treating it like any other career rather than treating it more like a hobby.

For me personally working for someone else has never been appealing. The thought of being a prisoner with the ole ball and chain comes to mind so this gave me the incentive to give it the right focus to never give up no matter what.

The love of developing into a connector turning networking into match making was not only appealing it’s actually become a lot of fun. Connecting people becomes a profession in itself. It’s time for people to stop seeing the Network Marketing industry as a get rich quick lottery deal and start using more women’s intuition to advance our industry. When more people wake up to this phenomenal concept we will begin to see a heck of a lot more growth in our profession. Women can be at the forefront of this phenomenon just by learning to become a better people connector.

Walk into a networking event and watch how the women who realize the value of this concept conduct themselves. They are going to most likely be the ones walking away with some valuable contacts after they’ve had a little match making fun.

When walking into the next networking event try a little experiment. See how many people you can connect up together. Consider this a connect the dot experiment! The more people you connect the more referrals you’re going to walk out with! Do not focus on yourself, instead totally focus on them. Take a genuine interest in every person you are connecting with and listen to people because when you focus on what they are saying they will give you clues. Keep your antenna up to pick up on those clues and when you sense any sort of negative vibes from someone that means to back off because you’re probably focusing too much on your own agenda and not focusing on what’s important to them.

After you introduce yourself zero in on them by asking what they do, what’s important to them and then, hold your tongue! Ask them who would be a good referral for them and then make sure you connect them with that referral by following through on what you say you are going to do.

Network Marketing is one of the only industries that actually give a person, any person, the chance to take back the American dream and there are no glass ceilings here for women! We can climb as high as we want to go and help as many people get there that want to come along with us including our family.

A profession in Network Marketing allows women like me who barely made it out of high school with no college degree, to build a solid career that pays as much or more than some people who have degrees. A Network Marketing career even pays someone when they’re not able to work. I experienced this first hand when going through some serious health challenges and through it all the income was secure.

Where else can someone earn an income even if they are not able to work with the exception of government assistance?

In network marketing the income earned is determined by the effort each person decides to devote versus taking a handout. It’s more of a hand up! Instead of giving people an apple to feed them for one day we teach people to plant an apple orchard and feed them for life. That’s what we do in Network Marketing every day when we empower others and teach them a new way to build their life for the better.

This profession gives women incredible leadership and character growth which can be considered priceless for a woman like me who had no experience, income, credibility, contacts, little confidence, and no corporate background when starting out many years ago. If it was all lost today confidence is built up to know it could be done all over again.

Experience, self-development and leadership character is something to work at every single day and not something that’s handed out for nothing. Self-development is an ongoing process no matter how successful a person becomes. The possibilities are endless in Network Marketing for the woman who sees what this profession really has to offer beyond just the income.

Some people get into Network Marketing with the ole ‘I'll give it a try’ attitude and never set their enterprise up like a real business entity right from the start. It's not being treated like a real business because there’s no real plan. Jim Rohn says “when you fail you failed to plan!”

When Network Marketing is treated more like a hobby people may pick up on that attitude and say “Oh she’s just a stay at home mom with a little hobby on the side.” Prove them wrong by developing the skills to boost your enterprise to a full time income career that can give you the leverage and freedom to do the important things you cherish like having more time to take care of your family.

A lot of times in Network Marketing we hear people say “you mean there's an investment to get started and to develop myself? “ What happens is people who do not get started right in the first place may end up quitting because delayed gratification is too difficult to wait for or they do not understand the importance of long term personal growth.

Entrepreneurs constantly invest in themselves and usually work without pay for many years. They understand delayed gratification because they realize that the eventual pay off can be huge. Many experience losses and overcome those too because they’ve grown personally and have the confidence to do it all over again. Entrepreneurs act and present themselves as professionals with a business minded attitude. Having this sort of attitude will create more attraction to your enterprise. Strive to develop into an entrepreneur. There’s a great DVD on this called ‘The Call of the Entrepreneur’.

It's up to the leaders in our industry to show professionalism at all times. It’s important not to bash another person's company or product or try and talk someone into or convince them to join your company when they have said they are happy with what they are doing. Help people to realize that they too can be successful and then show them how to get there on their time schedule by finding out what their dreams and goals are.

One of the main priorities for building a career in Network Marketing has been the ability to provide opportunities for our children.

We brought our son James to Austin to play tennis a few years ago he was a very weak player, a pudgy 14 year old who was 30 pounds heavier, who they had to take and mold like a piece of clay. He has had to work very hard to compete here with kids who have been playing tennis since they were seven or eight years old. Most of them were way ahead of him. He has made it this far because he has a sincere desire to become an excellent tennis player and obtain a college scholarship.

For many months we thought that we had made a mistake and were wasting time and money because we just were not seeing him winning the matches and moving up in levels. It has been grueling to watch him lose match after match. Not really realizing that he's right on target with his development in becoming an incredible athlete as well as an exceptional leader. These are skills that will take him far into his future and tennis is a sport he can play for the rest of his life!

At the end of the year party we were shocked to hear that our son was giving the end of the year speech! James is a young man of few words and very low key. He took the challenge the coach gave him and we had tears of joy when he gave his speech loud and clear in front of over 50 people including his peers! This took a tremendous amount of courage and gave us hope and reassurance that we've done the right thing by giving him the opportunity to grow into the leader he is becoming! Mom was extremely proud that day and very thankful for Network Marketing.

The same thing can happen for women and really anyone who chooses to build a solid lasting career in Network Marketing. Think of the possibilities it can give your children.

When we do all the right things now we will see the positive results come back to us in the near future. Three, four or even five years are not much time to invest in the freedom that a career in network marketing can provide for women. What does it matter as long as we get there right?

As a woman, wife and mom, it’s been a sheer joy to create a career in Network Marketing. I’m extremely proud to be living in a country where women have the freedom to choose a profession and build it around the family. I appreciate how this industry has empowered me personally as a woman. It’s an honor to give back to the greatest opportunity in the history of the world and empower everyone whose lives we touch along the way!

Thyroid Issues

Are you experiencing some of these health issues? Migraines, foggyness, memory loss, join pain, hair loss, cold hands and feet, fatigue, depression?

I'm writing this because it may help others who have experienced the same health issues regarding their thyroid.

I have struggled with thyroid issues for many years and took prescription synthroid for over 30 years up until about three years ago when I started to see a holistic doctor and started on natural medicine for my thyroid. After taking synthroid for all these years my bone density showed osteopenia.

For three years it was an up hill battle and for at least the last two years in 2007 and 2008 I became very seriously ill almost to the point of walking with a cain!

Thank God my income is residual because there were a lot of times that I was not able to work for many weeks and sometimes could barely get out of bed.

My memory was fading, sometimes I could barely speak or get words out of my mouth. It was like dementia! I was aging very quickly right in front of my family. My husband and two sons were very concerned as were family and friends.

I saw three different holistic doctors who put me on various nutritional supplements and they would help for awhile and then I would spiral down again. Sometimes with horrible pain in my joints so bad that I was taking showers ever thirty minutes just to relieve the pain! My hair was falling out and my skin was was shriveling up and very dry, debilitating migraines, memory loss, foggy, fatigue, depression.

Finally about two months ago I discovered that there was a medical doctor here close to where we live that ordered all of my blood work once again. He said that my TSH levels were higher than he had ever seen - 154+! My iron was also low which could also explain some of the fatigue.

He put me on Amour Thyroid and within two weeks I was feeling so much better! My hair stopped falling out and I started to think better. I've been on Amour thyroid now for over two months and still feeling better than I have in years!

Now that I have finally found something that has helped, it appears that Amour may be banned by the FDA!

We must speak out and stop this maddness! Our health care industry is in serious trouble as it is! People are sick and dying! We do not need the government telling us what we can and cannot take to build up our health!

What a great event and I love las vegas and the climate. But also
the greatest part of it was the education that someone could learn
from it.

I would suggest that you get on the bandwagon and be there next
year. Scott Monty was there. The founders of twitter. Many
different Directors of social media was here for many fortune 500
companies.

And Scott was even interviewed on CNN about the social media
revolution. GO Scott! How about Chris Brogan? And all the speakers
there? it was an AMAZING chance to learn and grow in social media.

Why am I telling you this?

Simple.

Social media is FOR REAl.

And it is happening bigger and grander than you could ever imagine.
And it is in its infancy. If you have a traditional business or
even a home business, you need to understand what i call the GREAT
UNDERSTANDING of Social Media.

The Train is getting ready to leave the station and if you are not
on it, you will be left behind and playing catch up for a long
time.

Help.com. Digg.com Ping.fm. Mybloglog.com And the list is 3,5OO

Get in social media.

Get ON THE TRAIN (and stay there everyday. Not just every once in
while. It MUST be daily.)

Get in the conversation.

Get out of the ancient thinking.

And GET WITH the rest of the folks who do get it and start looking
to social media as an incredible way to market, communicate, build
relationships, get your message out, and connect with your market.

Understand these 5 Great things:

1) Video Communicationis taking over the web and marketing. It is
the new TV station. You MUST adjust and start video marketing with
a relentless focus as video will soon be the new billboards on the
internet highway. Get you a flip video camera and GO.

2) Blog communicationis the new way people look for articles and in
many respects, it is the new newspaper. If you do not blog, then
you are not in the coming mainstream media or power communication.
Put your thoughts on a blog and rock the world.

3) Social Nedworkingis the new way people shake hands initally and
get to know each other. We all have networked, but this is
networking on steriods. You MUST become good at it, and help others
become good at it. This alone will explode your business and
income.

4) Podcast communcation is the new radio. Get yourself on

to get your message out.

5) Social Bookmarking is the new way to organize and publicize your
marketing efforts and content. You have heard of digg.com, and
reddit.com. Use them daily and befriend folks as they will help get
your message out in a more powerrful and exposure soaked way..

Do NOT miss thie train. It is geting ready, like a bullet, to leave
the station folks.

Social Media marketing is amazing tool. Be amazing with it in your

Whether it's a lead from your website or someone you meet in town while at the post office, at the grocery store, at your kids sports events, or at your favorite restaurant. At some point you've got to pick up the phone and connect with people if you're going to be in business.

Introduce yourself, share your story and most importantly listen to their story! As you listen to people share their story, find out how you can help them.

Even if someone already has a business they may be happy with at the time, listen to why and make the connection anyway because you never know what will happen. Someday they just might be looking again. When they are they'll most likely connect with you because you took the time to connect with them and showed you cared by keeping in touch and connecting them with others who could help them.

Ask people how you can help them in their business. Who's a good client for them? Be on their side! Let them know you've got their back! Connect with them and they will connect with you!

Automation is great and it only takes this whole process so far to bring you people. Then it's up to you to take the connection a step further. Even with qualified people who actually may sign up right on your website before speaking with you, you're going to have to connect by speaking with them to start building a relationship if you plan to build a solid foundation in your business.

Wouldn’t you rather build your foundation on rock so it will last?

It's so important as you form alliances with people that you connect them to others within your inner circle of business leaders as well. Because the more people you connect together the more solid your business relationships become which will grow your business.

Stop sitting around waiting and wondering when the right time would be to make a connection with someone. You can always come up with a reason why it’s not the “right” time or why “not” to connect with people or even a certain person that you're too nervous to connect with because you feel they are more important than you.

Everyone loves to be connected with even the most important well connected person you may ever meet will want to connect with you! Why? Because they will love connecting you with others they know too! Just ask them for help or advice, you'll see. :)

You may have butterflies in your stomach or you’re feeling nervous, so what? That happens to everyone, even the most seasoned networkers!

There's never a wrong time to make a connection with people. Being nervous is natural. Never let anything stop you from making a connection because making connections with people are priceless when you keep their interest at heart!

Think about it this way, every person you connect with you have an opportunity to change their life in a very positive way! You have a chance to 'give' that person encouragement, hope, friendship and even possibly a partnership. These are all possibilities as you connect with people.

Some say we find the best fruit way out on a limb and you've got to take a risk to get it! I've got a photo of a beautiful beach with a Star Fish framed on my office wall that says 'Reach For The Stars They Are Closer Than You May Think!'.

So if you’ve got butterflies fluttering in your stomach, just jump in and as Nike says 'Just DO IT!' Go ahead and take the plunge! What’s the worse that can happen? By doing so you'll realize you've now become an entrepreneur! Entrepreneurs are always making connections! It’s how we survive!

Stop paralyzing yourself and your business by sitting like the dirt waiting for something to be put into it– pick up your phone or while you're out and about connect with someone! Even if it's just by 'giving' a stranger you see in the grocery store your smile! :) Send someone an uplifting card or email.

Encourage someone today! Give them hope! They are waiting for you to connect with them and to connect you with that special someone you may not have met otherwise!

Who saw the movie with George Clooney, The Perfect Storm?

I do not mean to be insensitive to the people who went through a storm like Katrina. Believe me I know about hurricanes and storms. We have lived in the coastal area of Texas for eleven years and had to evacuate during Rita!

Let me share with you though that even though that was hard we took advantage of the situation to spend quality time with our family! We had no choice, we were in a car for 19 hours together! It's an event we will never forget! Thanks to the career I have built in Network Marketing my two sons are I are up in Austin now away from storms like hurricane Ike which recently flew through our town wrecking havoc, throwing trees around like toothpicks and shutting down the power for weeks down near Houston!

Now is a perfect time to expose your home based business opportunity to friends, family and everyone you meet because you never know who might be looking for an income producing business to add to their bottom line and you just might have the answer they’ve been searching for which is the perfect storm of opportunity.

Yes, you could hear ‘ no thank’ you. Just think though, in today’s financial crunch you might be surprised to hear a lot more YES’S!

You will never know though unless you expose your home based business to a lot of people before someone else does first.

Think about this too. The next time you are speaking with a friend, family member, lead or potential recruit, don't forget to share the income tax-reduction strategy. I have never met one person who has said they are not looking to save money on their taxes! Just ask people, would you like to save more money on your taxes this year and for the years to come? There seem to be more and more people lately over the age of 50 working at Walmart, Target or McDonalds. What does it take to become a champion?

It's been a long road these last two years of nail biting, nerves, financial stress, emotions, courage, determination, persistence, goal setting, and now a victory that will lead to many more!

It certainly has not happened over night for our son James! This brave young man has climbed a huge mountain and has suffered defeat after defeat, as he was one of the late starters at the tennis academy at age 14. With each failure he's learned something new and has become stronger.

He started playing tennis at age 10 when he picked up a racket on vacation one summer at Gulf Shores in Alabama and said "mom and dad this is the sport I want to play" and then he decided he had a goal to play in college.

He started in Austin at the academy at age 14 where most of the players have been since age 8 or 9.

So he's had a lot of catching up to do not to mention losing about 30 lbs, growing about 4 inches and developing into a young humbled leader! The coaches say he's definitely been the underdog.

He has fought hard and realizes he still has a long ways to go! This is only one milestone. We saw him in tears last weekend after a devastating loss and about to give up. We encouraged him NOT to give in or give up on his goals or his dreams! He's come much too far to throw in the towel!

We reluctantly had to take him out of the tennis academy because it's extremely expensive. It was a heart wrenching decision yet is giving him the ability to try out for the Lake Travis Tennis team next week which his coaches and he feels is actually going to help him even more to develop into a well rounded tennis
player and leader.

We do however plan to get him BACK into the academy by second semester and will do whatever it takes to help him continue advancing in his tennis career! .

This past weekend he proved once again that's he's been a fighter ever since he was born almost 3 months early at 3 lbs! He's now 6' tall wearing size 14 shoes and has a heart bigger than Texas!

Georgetown Hosts Berry Creek ZAT; Seward Qualifies

This first weekend of August held the Berry Creek ZAT, hosted by Georgetown, Tx, a tournament open to all non-qualified junior players.

Representing ATA was James Seward in the boys' 16s red draw and MIkaela Pope in the girls' 16s white draw.

James Seward competed like a man on a mission this past weekend, winning his first three matches to earn Championship status in the USTA Texas Section. In his qualifying match he faced the number five seeded J. Quarderer, whom he took down 6-0, 6-1 to advance to the final round.

"James was a determined player this past weekend," Coach Collins said. "He competed well and accomplished an important goal."

Look for James to continue to succeed in the Champ qualified division, while Mikaela proved that she is surely not far behind.

Two years ago it was interesting to find out about being highly allergic to Gluten, wheat, barley, rye and oats.

It's a genetic auto-immune disorder called Celiac. There was a complete denial for two years thinking "oh yeah, watch me still eat gluten and wheat now and then, no need to change much, nooooo problem!"

What a rude awakening the journey has been! haha!

It's taken a real change of HABIT to turn a lifestyle around after a lifetime of drinking beer, eating pizza, bread, pasta, cheese burgers, chicken friend steak, fast food and start eating properly for good health OR ELSE according to our holistic doc who said Sue's gonna die if she does not change her HABITS!

Ok, that got my immediate attention!

Since changing those HABITS and lifestyle I'm not only feeling so much better, not as sick after eating a meal, and lost over 25 lbs, keeping it off and STILL eating foods I love above with some modifications to Gluten Free

AND we're all

eating a lot more healthy foods too like more fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, only made out of rice, potato and sorghum flours which I've actually come to love even better and these foods actually give you more energy and stamina and are much easier on your insides!

The big fat stomach issue is gone, I'm down over 3 pants sizes and feel better and better when not eating wheat or fast food, junk food, etc.

Changing habits has taken a lot of hard work, reading every label, having to buy a lot of GLUTEN FREE labeled foods, making homemade sauces and dressings, etc., and it's been difficult when out around other people, especially traveling when people do not understand that even just a little gluten can kill someone with this disorder. Even contaminated kitchens and food on a buffet can become ticking time bombs.

Once you do change and form good habits though you never want to go back to the old ones that slow you down and hold you back from success!

The whole family is wanting to eat this way now including our 16 year old athlete son who suggested this habit lifestyle change for himself!

Steps To Setting Up Your Success Plan For Your Home-based Enterprise

How successful would you like your home-based enterprise to be? What is it that some business people do to become successful while so many others struggle and become frustrated , overwhelmed and stuck in analysis of paralysis?

Here's what I've done over the years to develop a full time career income and so have many other successful entrepreneurs in Network Marketing who are earning 6 and 7 figure incomes.

It starts with treating your network marketing enterprise like a REAL business and that means getting set up like a business right from the beginning.

If your plan is to attract the right kinds of people ie: entrepreneurs, business professionals and those seeking to become entrepreneurs and business owners, into your business, it best that you start presenting yourself as a professional right from the start.

Every wise business owner starts with a plan for success, sets their goals and puts their goals in writing. They usually share them with a trusted confidant, coach or family member to help them stay accountable and stay on track.

Proverbs 16:9 says, “The mind of a man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” God honors a Plan. Without a clear concise plan confusion is inevitable.

-Every serious business person starts with writing a ‘business plan’ – goals and plans are extremely important for your success because they give you a road map to follow and keep you on a clear path. Of course when goals are met, others goals are set, some may not be met do to some unforeseen circumstance. Any course can always be re-adjusted.

Once your plan is in place it’s time to start taking ACTION by following your plan to achieve your goals!

-Obtain a separate phone line - which is actually required for tax purposes - check with your accountant. If you're going to deduct expenses you will want to be set up as a real business.

There are a lot of great tax advantages available to home business owners so make sure to check this out. I've listed some business resources at the end of this article.

This is important because you do not want your children or anyone else answering your business line. It does not present a professional image and you may not be able to deduct that expense.

-Put a professional outgoing message on your voice mail. No kids, dogs, husbands, family, or other non professional agenda on your business voice mail. For instance on my voice mail on home office line and mobile people hear - "You've reached the home office of Sue Seward. I’m not available to take your call at this time so please leave a message with your phone number even if you think I have it and the reason for your call and I will return your call as soon as possible. Take Care"....

-Obtain a voice mail box to use for advertising, business cards and flyers. This way you do not have people calling your phone line at all hours of the day and night and they cannot trace you to your home line for safety reasons

-Obtain a professional email address - preferably your first and last name or your business name – it’s better not to use anything hokey for a business email address. I always use my first and last name. This also helps to brand your name.

-Set up a separate office area in your home - this can actually be required for tax purposes - check with your accountant

-Obtain business cards - all professionals use them and preferably order them from your company or a printing service and not printed on your computer - business cards are one of the most inexpensive tools available to a business entrepreneur. Check the affordable service online below. You can even order Free cards there when waiting on your company cards.

-Order appropriate sales aids from your company - ask your upline leaders what they use

-Use an online marketing system that will duplicate more training on that at my MLM Online Marketing eCourse. See business resources below.

-Attend company events especially your company conventions - remember these expenses are most likely tax deductible - again check with your accountant - These events are designed to teach and train you in developing yourself and in doing so you start making money.

-Plug into conference calls and training calls especially when firs t starting out and if you’re an experienced Network Marketer and have joined a new company attend all calls to become familiar with the new company. Your organization will also see you attending calls and will most likely follow in your foot steps if they are serious about become successful in their own enterprise. (remember you’re the advisor and the messenger!) They have to decide to believe and take those steps for themselves based on their own personal reasons (their why)!

-When first starting out spend 80% of your time prospecting.

Sponsor two, three or five people depending on your companies compensation plan and plug them into a SYSTEM that they can duplicate, help them to sponsor some people and then sponsor some more and keep on doing the same thing and teaching others to do the same.

This way you are plugging people in as you sponsor and people will duplicate and this is where you'll start to see the leverage develop. (read more below)

-Get with your sponsor and/or upline to work with you in the beginning if necessary. Ask for coaching when you need it! They want to help you to succeed because when you succeed they succeed too!

-Set your sites on doing all of the above, be coachable and you will succeed in your network marketing home based business enterprise. If someone is not successful it could because they are not coachable, have not set up their plan, refuse to plug in properly and/or they just give up and quit way to soon.

Have you planned to improve the quality of your life? Think about WHY this is important to you? That’s all a part of writing your Success Plan & Goals which keep your burning WHY out in front of you at all times helping you stay on target with your plan!

In developing a Network Marketing career, you will learn more about yourself and develop skills and talents you never thought you would. This can be priceless to you because you will be able to take the experience, talent and skill sets you learn anywhere you go for the rest of your life.

Personal branding online is when you've actually gotten out there and developed yourself and then start giving back to help and assist others too. Companies brand their names and products so why not YOU?

People start to know who you are and what you are giving back in the way of value and content that they can actually use to develop themselves too. It's when you decide to brand 'you' first vs 'advertising' your company or products first.

People are looking for other people that they like and trust to help them grow and succeed. After they learn to trust you then they may ask you about your company and/or products and services, training and informational content you have to offer.

Everyone has something to offer. Everyone has some sort of skills or content they are experienced in or an interest right? For instance I found out I'm allergic to wheat and gluten so I'm into gluten free cooking now big time! That's something to write about and offer to others that are looking for this sort of information. Does that mean everyone interested in GF cooking will be interested in my business? Of course not! I do however make a lot of connections and friends to share ideas/recipes on this subject.

You can even write a blog on this type of subject and attract a lot of people who are looking to share this sort of information.

Personally this was learned many years ago from mentors who were an encouragement online back in 1996. They encouraged to develop a presence online and brand you vs branding a specific company or product. So that's what I did starting with no experience at all and no contacts or credibility online. All of this has been developed through many years of making connections online, building relationships, hard work and effort. It's not been easy and there have been some rough times with plenty of frustrations.

We started out using email and online forums in 1996 and always picked up the telephone to call people and developing the relationship. Then we went on to develop landing pages, replicated and personal websites where you connect people with YOU first and then your opportunity if they are interested in what you have to offer they will ask you about it. Then audio came along and now there's video to make online connections and branding even more personal.

So I always encourage people to realize that anyone can do this if they decide to and stay with it. Learn from those who have been there done that and then once you do learn give back! Make sure you always set up your profile with a personal photo of yourself first thing. That's the first sign of branding YOU.

Even when you do not have a lot of experience yet you know something, have some sort of skills, can share content worth something when you start to think this way. In the beginning you may have to share other people's stuff, articles, information you come across as you're learning - you get the idea right? Just be sure to obtain their permission.

Set your mind in the direction of thinking that -

It's always about other people and what they are interested in and looking for! It may not always be your opportunity or products at this time and it may never be, so what, get YOU connected because you never know what will happen when the timing is right for someone! They'll be in touch with the people they've connected with who show a genuine interest in THEM!

Who’s Your Niche Market & Are You Targeting Them?

Do you know who your niche market is? What is a niche? These are people who are already using your type of products or services and all your doing is speaking with them about switching to your products and services which are of higher quality and comparable in price.

In other words, people who are already using products and services similar to yours in price will most likely buy yours at the same price. You explain the difference in quality of yours vs the other brand. If you are selling gourmet products, people who are buying cheap products of low quality would not be your niche or target market.

Your target market could also be other network marketers or people who have been searching for a network marketing home business. You could also target network marketers who have been burned in MLM before and searching for the right opportunity to help them grow. If you are an experienced MLMer or trainer your target market may be people looking for a mentor or coach.

It’s much easier and more fun when you’re speaking with people who are actually looking for you and for the type of products and services you have to offer them.

Think about this – when you’re looking for an accountant do you search out a plumber? Now you may ask your plumber to REFER you to a good tax accountant right? You would not want your plumber doing your taxes would you?

When you’re looking for a high quality products do you go to the dollar store? Probably not! So why are you speaking with and searching out people who do if your products are of higher quality? Make sense?

How do you know where people buy their products? You ask them! If they tell you the dollar store that’s a pretty good sign that they are not your target market so there’s no point in wasting your time or theirs on convincing them to buy yours!

The same thing goes for convincing people about Network Marketing. Targeting people who are already educated and experienced in this profession will save you a lot of time and headaches.

Start networking in areas where other networkers congregate online and make connections with them. Introduce yourself and share your ‘talents’ not your business opportunity. Get to know people, find out about their talents, express a genuine interest in others and offer to give back, share information, give direction and advice when you have something to offer of value to others.

Have Motivated People With A Winning Attitude Find You!

In over a decade in this profession, I’ve learned a lot about other people and about myself. The single most important thing learned is how important self development is to your success.

Here is the one thing that has to happen for you to become successful in anything you attempt to do: you must first build yourself and your own talents. When you do, you develop something that is all important to success in networking: posture.

What is posture?

It’s when you have so much confidence in yourself and what you’re doing that you look for the most talented people you can find to join you in your business. It’s when you’re no longer afraid to talk with the most successful people you run into.

You become a talent scout interested in others, instead of a recruiter interested only in you!

The path of the recruiter – when I started out in this business, I was a recruiter. Everyone I saw or ran into was a prospect or a mark! I was a living three-foot rule: no matter who they were or what sort of attitude or interest they had, I was determined to recruit every single person that I saw or spoke with.

How was it? It was a disaster! But it was also a very good learning experience for me, at any rate. In the years since I’ve learned a good deal: and first and foremost, I’ve learned that what it takes to really become successful is not about being the best recruiter. Even those networkers who are phenomenal recruiting machines, while they may be successful for a time, eventually fizzle out.

Why? Because they recruit just anyone. They talk and persuade people into joining with them, even when those people don’t really want to. Most of the people recruiters enroll say “yes” when they really mean “no”. They say “yes” just to get the recruiter off their backs!

What happens? The majority of people the recruiters recruit end up quitting because they didn’t have what it takes to succeed in this business in the first place. The recruiter most likely is not aware of this because chances are,, he didn’t stick around long enough to train them or show them actually HOW to do the business. He’s too busy recruiting his next dozen victims.

Recruiters may not take the time to actually get to know people, to ask them what they are interested in, what their personal goals are or what sort of talents they have. They’re after the sign-up; the thrill of the sign-up is a rush for them.

Most recruiters are not very good trainers or leaders. They just don’t have time to train: they’re too busy recruiting.

The Path of the Talent Scout –

If you really want to become very successful in this profession, forget about being a recruiter: learn instead how to be a talent scout!

This takes time and you must first develop yourself as a leader. Hang out with talented leaders, listen to them, learn from them, read books on leadership, listen to great audio tapes on leadership, sit in on conference calls. Becoming wealthy in this profession very quickly is a myth. It happens, but not that often. You’ve got to pay your dues!

Constantly keep your eyes and ears open for talented women and men that you’d like to partner with. All the sacrifice, time and hard work to develop yourself into a leader and talent scout will be worth it because you’ll find out that talented people start to search you out!

Develop yourself into a top talent scout and look for the most talented people you can and you’ll get to the point where you can be very selective in who you choose to work with.

What is talent?

Who has “talent”? The person with a PHD? The guy or gal who’s already very successful? Well, sometimes, but for the most part, what you look for are people who are highly motivated, people with a winning attitude like yourself! Look for ordinary people who can do ordinary things extraordinarily well.
There’s no need to be fearful of speaking with extremely successful people about what you’re doing. Remember, you’re a talent scout – not a recruiter! When you have a talent scout’s attitude, successful people will recognize and will gladly speak with you because they realize that you are not out to recruit them and take a genuine interest in them!

Will everyone join you? Maybe, maybe not. But does it matter? No, because if they don’t , others will. You know this is true, because there’s talent out there and you’re now a talent scout!

When you get to this place, when you start to seek out the right people to partner with you in your business enterprise, you’ll be absolutely amazed at the people who start to be attracted to you and contact you. Become a talent scout instead of a recruiter and watch what happens with your success ratio!

Brand yourself as a connector, determine your target market and become a talent scout.

So you wanta get up front and personal huh?!

I've expressed my professional opinion before about building a
business online using a personal website.

I'm not totally against using this method because I've been
building online myself since 1996 and have used a personal website
for many years to brand myself. It's not totally impossible to
duplicate, just a bit more difficult and more time consuming
especially with much more competition online these days.

Yes it's true, there are billions of people online - the thing is
to attract them to YOUR personal website! That's the part that
also takes time to build - it's all about networking and building
relationships with people. I've always said too that Rome was not
built in a day!

So if you have the time to spend developing a personal website and
getting it ranked high in the search engines then I say go for it!

Having a personal website that brands YOU can be a very effective way
to market online.

It's very important though to understand the timing for developing
a personal website. I've been branding myself online for over twelve
years. This is something that takes time and consistent efforts to
do effectively and produce an income.

Here's my recommendation - remember this is just my opinion after
developing a full time career income in this industry. It's your
business and you are welcome of course to build it any way you
choose too.

After you have developed a consistent income of at least $3,500 a
month ( or lower if you have the extra time and choose to start
one sooner - it's totally up to you) in Network Marketing and are
covering your budget start thinking of developing a personal website
either yourself or if you have the budget to pay someone seek
assistance from someone experienced in this area.

Building a personal website can be very time consuming and could take
away from your prospecting and sponsoring activities which is what
pays you your income.

Some other ideas would be to develop a blog and again do this
AFTER you have achieved your prospecting activities for the day.
In other words use your off time after prospecting to work on
your blog.

It's very important to have a replicated marketing 'system' that
you can have set up and working for you day one and your team
members can also be duplicating as well. It's very difficult to
duplicate someone like myself who has been branding online
for over twelve years. You'll spend hours and hours working on
your website while people who have been branding online for
years are signing up people and building their incomes.

SYSTEM means - Save Your Self Time Energy & Money -

If you are not earning the income you'd like to be then prospecting
should be your main priority and having a 'system' to send your
prospects too will save you a lot of time, energy and money!

An online marketing system consist of a replicated website that
everyone with your team will have access to - a tour landing page
that every prospect fills out for access to your website
information - and an autoresponder system that drips information
to your prospect even while you are sleeping, working another job,
on vacation, etc.

Most marketing systems have a MY STORY page too that you can
personalize to you, add your photo and your personal website link
if you have one, blog, etc.

When you ARE ready to start developing a personal website here
are a few tips - (always check with your sponsor/upline too for the
online system they may be using.)

Make sure you brand yourself as a professional and an expert in
your field. Always have a personal photo (professionally taken is
best) on your website along with a story about yourself and why you
started a home business.

Offering a free cd, drawing, newsletter, ecourse, ezine, are all
great ways to make connections with people and offer content value.

Make sure you have a REQUEST INFORMATION form set up on your
personal website asking various questions such as:

EMAIL

Phone

Have You Ever Owned Your Own Business?

How Much Money Would You Like To Earn Monthly?

How Much Money Are You Willing To Invest?

How Much Time Are You Willing To Invest?

Describe Exp In MLM?

Have a link to your marketing system on your blog or personal
website listed in the MENU with How I Earn Money From
Home....

Place links to your articles if you have them or you could post
industry articles from some of your favorite mentors and trainers
with their permission.

If you have a blog put that on your personal site in the menu.

As always keep it simple, clean, and professional.

KEY WORDS

When selecting keywords for your personal website or blog, you need
to begin by determining the goal of your site which is to share your
business opportunity. If you put yourself in the place of
your prospect who is searching for a home business, when they go to
the search engines, what words would they type in the search box to
find what they're looking for and find you?

Take the basic keywords and build combinations or phrases centered
around the words.

Also, be thinking about your target market and add those
keywords as well. For example: work at home, homebased business,
MLM, network marketing, internet marketing, online marketing,
network marketing training, network marketing coach, network
marketing mentor, (your type industry and product
names here), etc.

Now, here comes the key; Your keywords need to be RELEVANT to your
site. The keywords you're selecting should be sprinkled somewhere
within the text of your site if you're goal is to capture a good
site ranking for those keywords. Remember, your text needs to be
free of company trademark names.

This is getting a bit more advanced, but there are many places to
put your keywords beyond just the text; in your site's title and
description, in the "alt" section of your images, your page titles
(page names in the menu bar). If you're using SiteBuilder (see
below) there are tools plugged into that system that help you do
this.

Site Builder is a bit more advanced and is designed to get
you listed HIGH in the search engines. I've built several
websites using this system . It's a bit time consuming
and more analytical. Once you learn it properly you'll
get higher rankings like I have.

What this means is when someone is searching certain key
words SBI does the work at getting your site listed higher
when someone puts in that key word your site is listed in the
first 1-10 sites. Most people according to the SBI experts
do not click down below this. They usually click on a site
within the first 10 sites listed.

This is crucial because you are spending your time and
money on putting a website together and if no one finds it you
will not get traffic which converts to sign ups and that
means more income flowing in to your business! (you'll
receive more training in this eCourse too on driving traffic
OFFline to your ONline business, other ways to direct people
to your personal website or marketing system.)

Blogging -

A blog is much like a personal website only its focus is more of a
personal journal or diary that's left open for everyone to read.

A blog is a wonderful complement to your personal website,
newsletters and articles, and overall building your presence online.

Your blog writing will center around a specific topic related to
your target market. Each post will contain your personal thoughts,
experiences, resources or training relevant to your topic. The key
is to develop your style of writing.

Much like the personal website, it's a tool to share who you are
and begin establishing relationships. However, with a blog, your
site visitors can leave comments and the relationship becomes a two
way conversation.

Here is a "getting started" guide to blogging:

1. Who is your ideal reader?

2. Examine the reasons or purpose of why you want to publish a
blog.

3. How do you want your readers to feel when they read your blog?
What's your writing style - humorous, visionary, educator??

4. What do you want your readers to do when they read your blog? -
call to action

5. How much time do you have to devote to your blog each week?
Start planning a schedule for writing.

6. Name your blog. Think in terms of keywords and target market.
What's your niche? How does it relate to your online presence?

7. Sign up for a blog account:

8. Register a domain name for your blog; for example
mine is SuccessfulMLMER.com or you could use the word
BLOG in your blog domain name!

9. Set up your blog.

- Choose a template that best suits your style with colors, layout,
and side bar items
- Choose colors that complements your personal website, logo/header
- Set up your content categories and lists
- Develop your "author profile"

10. Drive traffic to your blog site:

- Submit to blog directories and search engines

- Submit to regular search engines like Google and Yahoo

- Have a sign up form on your blog so visitors can get your posts
by email - this can be set up through Aweber.

- Syndicate your blog with RSS feeds. Any website you have may
offer an RSS feed feature. When you set this up, this means that
whenever you post something on your blog, it will show up on the
website you've placed the RSS feed.

For example, when I post on my blog, it shows up on my squidoo
page. If I'm posting on my blog through wordpress, I can have it
show up on my personal website because our site system allows for
RSS feeds.

11. Create links to your blog:

- put a link in your email signature file

- on your personal website or any profile pages within social
communities

- Article Resource Box

- in your newsletter

- Business Cards

12. Blogging is another resource for online networking. Comment on
other blogs related to your target market, build your credibility,
and drive traffic to your blog. When you post on another's blog,
your name/ID profile will be a hyperlink back to you.

SYSTEM means - Save Your Self Time Energy & Money –

It's very important to have a replicated marketing 'system' that anyone can have set up and working for duplication day one and one that their team members can also be duplicating as well. It's very difficult to duplicate someone like myself and others who have been branding online for years because most people will spend hours and hours working on their personal website while those experienced who have been branding online for years are signing up people who are finding them online.

Consequently these experienced online marketers are building their incomes while others are building their personal website systems.

In some cases, this could even be the upline competing with their own organization out on the net because they’ve had their personal website set up and branding themselves online for many years.

When attending company events instead of having 15 to 20 frontline leaders wouldn’t it be great to have 4 or 5 strong frontline leaders attending with their own teams which means the ‘system’ is duplicating and not one person doing all the sponsoring.

What this means is creating leverage because the team is sponsoring using the ‘system’. Let’s face it, how many people are top recruiters who sponsor 15 to 20 people a month? In fact, the majority will only sponsor 2 or 3 people a month at the most and many only one a month. Most of the top income earners in our industry have two or three really strong legs and many have only one or two that they earn 95% of their income on.

If there’s only one person at the top of your company’s pay plan that’s consistently been the only one at the top for more than five years, is that ‘person’ really being duplicated? If they were wouldn’t there be more than one person at the top position with them?

What this means is that this top person is most likely a recruiting machine and the majority of team members are not able to duplicate them. It’s obvious that if the system was being duplicated on a consistent basis there would be more than one person at the top of the pay plan. In essence the upline could be competing with their own downline. It’s almost like being in corporate America where there’s only one CEO is at the top and no one is able to duplicate them and share that top position at the same time.

If someone’s not earning the income they'd like to be then prospecting should be the main priority and having a 'system' to send prospects too will save them and their organization a lot of time, energy and money because the ‘system’ is a lot easier to duplicate than trying to duplicate a top recruiter.

Network Marketing takes time and effort. It's not always a cake walk and there’s no easy button!

It doesn't happen overnight and you do not get rich in a few short months. As professionals we have got to stop this insane hype because it can be detrimental to our profession!

Maybe this happens for a few. You know all the ones you read about in magazines who say they got a check for a bil-zillion dollars in a few short months! Then these few go out and flaunt their riches and make everyone think it's so easy!

This just isn't the reality of the industry. We've got to get realistic here. Until people start developing realistic goals, they will continue to frustrate themselves and most will quit.

With most of these stories we really never hear the behind the scenes true story of how these people got to the top so quickly do we? Trust me, there’s more to the story than we ever hear in the lime light of the stage.

It took me a lot of years to get to understand what to do and to learn the business. Developing into a leader has taken time. Before you can help other people it’s important to develop yourself. I had no business background, no corporate business background, no degrees, no contacts, and no credibility when I started. I was a stay at home mom and still am a tennis mom to this day.

Now I call myself a CEO MOM. It's a better feeling when you start to have people coming to you.

It's not been easy. I've stumbled and mumbled and made many mistakes but the one thing I have NOT done is GIVE UP.

It’s a constant learning and growing process too! I have gotten checks while learning, not huge insane money, but still a very nice four figure a month passive residual income that flows in month after month for working at HOME. I always realized that I would be underpaid in the beginning and I now know what the future holds for me as I stay on the course and continue building a solid foundation.

I've been able to stay home with my kids and take them and pick them up from school and taxi them to their activities. I haven't worked for someone else in over 17 years.

Ask people who say they quit their jobs in 6 months or a year to do Network Marketing full time really how many hours did they have to spend in the beginning to make that kind of money so quickly. More importantly, what sort of sacrifices did they have to make?

It might be a lot easier for a single guy named Joe ON THE GO with no wife, no kids, no house or yard to care for, to concentrate 16 to 18 hours a day on their Network Marketing business with no one to answer to, no kids to take to ball games, no diapers to change, babies to feed, no dinner to cook, no house to clean, no homework to help with, no groceries to shop for, no spouse to give attention to, etc.

This busy list of life goes on and on especially for women!

Because women are usually the caretakers and have not only the responsibility of building a multi-million dollar business but also the responsibility of caring for our families and sometimes that may include our own aging parents.

This is not’t meant to be an excuse. Everyone’s life situation is different. Many people must start in Network Marketing part-time because it’s necessary for them to work it around their job or around their full-time LIFE.

Most people have a full time job and many other obligations in their lives. Even with all this anyone can still build a Network Marketing business if they really take the little precious time they do have and be patient as their business grows in time AND most of all never never never give up. Then what happens is you develop leverage which gives you the ultimate and that’s FREEDOM. Just remember success always comes with a price.

Some people are just as happy with a part-time income from Network Marketing. Just remember to be realistic about the time frame involved according to your own particular situation and make sure you are sensitive to this fact in other people's lives.

When you decide that you want to change your career and start your own business and choose Network Marketing decide right then and there that you've got to give it at least 30 months of intent focus. Even if it’s only ONE hour a day make that one hour count.

Just think how long people stay in traditional jobs to retirement? 20, 25, 30 years? Then what do they have? If you do start a traditional business it will most likely take you at least 2 to 3 years to break even or maybe even longer. My husband and I had this discussion. He told me how long it would take him to start making a profit if he were to start his own Land Surveying business.

He said at least 4 years and he would have to spend a ton of money to even start his business. And if the economy goes so does his business. There's a lot more risk involved.

You also have a tremendous amount of overhead in a traditional business usually, depending on what sort of business you start. Start up cost are usually much higher than in starting a Network Marketing business.

In traditional business you still have to work hard, give it daily consistent effort, contact many many people, focus and commit, have desire, develop a PLAN, be organized, manage your time wisely....etc....the same thing we do in Network Marketing.

Find what many other people want and need. Become passionate about what you’re doing. Use the products yourself so you will become passionate and enthusiastic about what you’re sharing with others and WHY it’s important to you. Other people will see you walking your talk.

Be patient and stick with it. Be coach-able......find a good sponsor and experienced support team to work WITH you, not build it FOR you. Stayed focused and constantly stay involved in the loop. That means be on company and team conference calls to stay plugged in.

Constantly strive to be a leader. Be around successful people, watch them, do what they do, read what they read, go where they go.

Just DO IT and believe that you CAN!

Read everything you can about your company, the industry, constantly developing yourself and talk consistently about the industry to your business partners and other colleagues in the industry and of course to people in general that you meet. Don't forget to listen a lot too.

Attend every company function you can possibly get to! Attend leadership training seminars. Read books on leadership and business. Robert Kiyosaki, Richard Branson, Donald Trump are some of my business mentors. Look for successful business minded people in your community. Learn all you can from them and bring them into your business. If this is not for them then ask for referrals. This is what I've done in the last nine years. I've associated myself with very successful positive people and I'm sticking with them like glue! Here I am a little ole stay at home mommy working closely with people who are self-made millionaires and teaching me how to become one too.

Can you do this business alone? Yes you could, but it could be much tougher. That would be similar to being in a traditional business wouldn't it?

Remember to always think of the other person first, and ask them questions....take an interest in other people and sincerely try to help them. Building relationships is so important in this business. Whether you're online or offline always build the relationship first.

When you do people will gravitate towards you!

There are a few things that are absolutely crucial to your success in this business:

*Being consistent on a daily basis with your contacting and filling your pipeline. This one is one of the MOST crucial of all.

Make sure you are consistent! Do something every single day for your business! No matter what! Even if all you have is ONE hour a day do something for your business! It's important not to go
one day without doing something to grow your business another step up because I can almost bet you the farm that if you go one day it will turn into two, then three, then four then a week, a month goes by and you have not done anything for your business. You could become discouraged, frustrated, and guess what happens?

YOU’LL QUIT! DO SOMETHING EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR YOUR BUSINESS! Even if it’s answering ONE email, calling ONE person, taking your products, listening to a conference call, etc. Do whatever you can to make that commitment to do something everyday for your business.

Stay plugged into the loop with your company, your team, your upline, your organization and your profession.

*Follow up in a timely manner

*and NEVER Give Up!

How successful you are really depends on how many contacts you are making on a daily basis -

You will get rejected too so just be ready for it! It's really a good thing. I've been there too. The ones that can handle the most rejection WIN because they will grow the most, become leaders and leaders are paid more.

Remember -

Following up is where most people drop the ball! I've seen it so many times with people and admit I have also been guilty of not following up when new to the business.

I was so afraid of the rejection. Now it’s a welcome advantage. If someone says no that's ok! When you build your mindset it just stops bothering you as much when people say no thanks. Just means no thanks this isn't for me. It doesn't mean it's not for YOU!

Taking it personally will only take your focus off achieving your own plans and dreams.

If you are not able to follow up in a timely manner ask one of your business partners to follow up with your contact because not following up because of fear or because you've lost your focus puts your business at risk for going stagnant.

Can you imagine being a 22 year old and discovering Network Marketing as your niche, finding the right mentor, and giving it 36 months of consistent, focused efforts with the right company and only ONE company, product, timing and experienced mentors? These young people could be set for life.

Could you also imagine leaving a million dollars in cash sitting on the table and getting up and walking away?!! That's what you're doing when you QUIT your Network Marketing business.

Well no matter how young or old you are you can still benefit from Network Marketing today.

It’s been a pleasure to have found Network Marketing when I did. Deciding to learn and grow through ALL the experiences, good AND bad, but most of all, never giving up no matter what, has created LEVERAGE and that my friends is an ultimate benefit in Network Marketing.

This is a photo of our son James who just turned 16 in December. James was born almost 2 1/2 months early in December of 1992. He was supposed to come into this world in March but decided it was time to come early! He was only 3 lbs which was really big as the doctors expected he would be about a lb and half. It was a struggle for him to breath so he was on oxygen, but only for 15 hours. He was a fighter!

He had to stay in the hospital for two months before we could bring him home which was one of the most joyous occasions of our life even though he had to be on a monitor for over a month. We quickly discovered that he was not going to stay in that situation long as he fought to free himself from those lead wires that were holding him down! haha!

He's now 6' tall! James started playing tennis when he was ten giving up soccer and baseball for the love of the match. So the summer before he started ninth grade we decided to move him to Austin because he was accepted to play level 1 tennis for the Austin Tennis Academy. This was made possible because of the career I had built over the years in Network Marketing.

Last summer the head coach chose James, one of the most quiet young men they had ever met, to do the end of year speech. James had to write the speech himself. He had never even taken speech in school or done anything like this!

Being a part of this academy has given him leadership skills that make him stretch so he accepted the challenge and we were so proud of him. They said that James had started as a heavy mediocre tennis player and was the player to develop the most that previous year including losing over 30 lbs!

He is still fighting his way to champs so it's been a marathon and not a sprint. James is determined to never give up!

Don’t ever give up! Decide To Believe that you CAN!

Hey everyone, this is from a colleague. She is our accountant in Iowa. It was quite inspirational and worth taking a few minutes to read so obtained her permission to share.

This is not a forward, or a chain letter, or a do it or else letter. This a just my thoughts for these days and times that we are living in.

In these days when the news media says we are in so much trouble, and the stock market tells us we have no money and all the big companies tell us they have no money and jobs are being lost and families are being put into financial stress, I have decided to take another look at our world.

Last Saturday night I had the privilege to attend the Iowa All-State Festival Concert as a proud Grandmother. My Grandson had been selected as one of 601 talented singers from the High Schools in the State of Iowa Among others were 276 for the Concert Band and 200 for the Orchestra. As I sat listening to these amazing sounds these young people were capable of, I was truly in awe. As I have thought of this marvelous night, as an accountant, I have started to reflect. Here are my thoughts.

The World has not gone to Hell in a hand basket, it is thriving, with youth of this caliber, and many more we never hear of, this country is in fine shape. I blame the news media and its incessant desire for sensationalism for our thoughts on the youth of this Country. We have not forgotten God, as the Government and the news media tell us we have. Some have forgotten to thank him for their blessings, some only turn to him when they have no where else to turn. The individuals who are still praising their risen savior are just not making the news.

Our economy: I heard last night on the news that the Dow Jones Averages are at a 5 year low. Amazing.. 5 years ago the economy wasn't so bad. So what's all the hoopla.. It is news!! The Automotive Dealers are in dire straights, Who put them there. They did! How many Company jets flew to Washington to ask for money to bail them out? TOOOO many. They are in trouble because they liked living high at the expense of the blue collar worker, who had to work to feed his family, and while doing so fed the glutton of the Corporate Directors. Were these workers overpaid, by no means, and yet the White collar directors build fabulous new homes, all while trying to figure out how they could out do the other overpaid in this country. Have they taken a reduction in what they draw from the company, I doubt it. And yet the worker who only made enough to care for his family, has nothing. There is definitely something wrong with this equation.

And now for the Housing lenders Bail out. This is really a big one in my book. I would like to meet the guy who designed this setup. They did it all with advertising and enticement. Quick easy money, Build a bigger house, buy a bigger house, we'll lend you the money, all you pay is interest and in ten years you can sell this house for a profit and pay off the loan. So the family making 50,000 per year, that could easily have paid for a moderate family home, was enticed to buy bigger and better. It doesn't take a lot of sense to know that a family with moderate earnings cannot afford a 200,000 house, but they were told they could. These lenders forgot to tell them what happens when the interest rates go up, or when they call that loan in early, or when the housing market falls and there is no equity to maintain the loan.

How did we get where we are? We did it to ourselves! With a little help from Big Business, and our own Government. Not just President Bush, He is the fall guy.. He is where the buck and the blame stops. He has been a victim of a runaway economy, a runaway congress, and demanding big business influence, which he was not prepared to deal with, and neither was anyone else that had the position to do so. We had the warning signs of what was coming. They were just ignored.

Isn't it amazing how incidental the War in Iraq has become to the news media. Do you suppose if they had to report on the good that is being done there, they could? I don't think seeing the good side of an event is what they consider news. Our young, our strong and our brave are there fighting yet, don't forget them. You are safe in your home, because they are there. Without them, this war could be in your backyard.

I could go on, but you all get the idea. Instead of looking down and looking back this Thanksgiving, Be thankful for what you do have. If this Country, this Economy and your life need to be fixed, the best place to start is with you. As for me and my family, we will serve God first, we will deal with our problems the best way that we can and we are definitely not going to fly into Washington to see if they can pay our way out with tax money working Americans have paid in taxes. We are Americans, We are Proud and we are capable.

What can we do? Thank our God for what we do have. Thank him for a risen Savior. Ignore the hype of the news media. Know that daylight will come tomorrow and the world will continue to spin on its axis, you still have it better then most fellow citizens on this planet earth and Gods love will still surround you.

Just a few thoughts for your Thanksgiving.

Everyone seems to be stuck like a deer in the headlights because of all the bad economic news lately. The worse thing people can do is to do nothing and that's why many will remain stuck in their situation and it's going to get worse.

Meanwhile the rich are getting RICHER and the poor chicken littles are getting poorer! People are allowing their American Dream to be stolen right out from under them because of FEAR!

Now is the time to take action and start taking BACK the American Dream! Doesn't that sound like a better plan than just hiding our heads in the sand?

Starting a business in Network Marketing is the solution and the best time to start investing in your future is right NOW. What's important is not only to realize that this is happening, what's really important is that you select the perfect vehicle to that will help you take advantage of some really great opportunities that are going to be available.

Find something that is affordable, simple, profitable and a sure bet for taking back the American Dream and helping more people to be in a better position financially to take advantage when the next famine strikes!

When I became seriously ill this past year I could not work sometimes for weeks at a time and my income still came in. In fact, I earned a 6 figure income that paid our expenses. If all I was doing was retailing products I would have gone broke.

What would happen if you got sick? Or your spouse or child became ill and you could not work? Would your income stop?

What's important to note is the LEVERAGE developed with a Network Marketing enterprise - ahhhh - the real beauty behind our profession that many people may take for granted and some really do not quite understand this extremely important concept. So I'd like to help more people understand because it's where real freedom comes into your life once you understand why it's so important - how to get it - and how to make it work for everyone.

In my own business I do a lot of delegating and build depth. One of the things I've learned from a favorite business mentor, Donald Trump, is to surround yourself with great people and I've been able to do this by networking, making connections online and building long term relationships. I'm constantly networking not only with people who will work directly in my business enterprise but also people upline and crossline in my business as well as others within the same profession who are not even directly related with my company. Because someday they could be. You never know do ya?

Something else important that I have learned from Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump is about leveraging other people's time and money. So I recommend reading their books to understand more about what it means to be an entrepreneur and what leverage can mean to you as a business person.

Building any type of business enterprise takes hard work and it will take time depending on each person's personal situation, budget, etc. and yes it can be done for anyone who has the desire and determination and for anyone who does not quit. It will take some sacrifice too which many people will just not commit to upfront to get more in the back end. That's called delayed gratification and it's a tough one when so many people are cash addicted and want money right now.

This is why it's so crucial to find an in demand product to distribute that has a 100% wholesale to retail mark up to solve this issue for the majority of people who must have cash flow. This way people can put cash in their pocket day one while they are building up their long term residual income because most are not entrepreneurial. This is a character trait that has to be developed in most people. Some people are just naturally entrepreneurial. The majority of people though are not and waiting for years to develop an income stream just won't cut it for them. It's really why so many people quit in Network Marketing. They settle for going back to the boss for the paycheck at the end of the week or month.

Entrepreneurs are risk takers and they are laser focused on their goals and they understand what it means to sacrifice to accomplish their goals and dreams. When I started in 1996 my goal was to build a successful career income in Network Marketing. I had absolutely no desire to work for someone else because I've always been quite entrepreneurial although I had a lot of work to do on myself personally!

Most people are used to being employees and having someone dictate to them what to do, when to do it and how long to do it. It's hard sometimes to break out of that mold and become independent. It takes hard work on yourself to build yourself into an entrepreneur. The first thing everyone must do is decide this is what you want and then set your goals, put your plan in place and take action.

Latch on to a mentor who has done it and be extremely coach-able. The more you learn to let go of control the more leverage you'll develop in your business.

The first thing I recommend is to treat your business like a REAL business right from the start. This is what I did when starting online in 1996. I was extremely coach-able, consistent every day exposing my business online and offline. I was very persistent and did not let anyone steal my dreams. There were a lot of people who tried too including my own immediate family who made fun of me at every holiday dinner. They do not do that now. In fact, they all have the utmost of respect now because of what I've accomplished and realize I stayed the course and never gave up on my dreams.

I worked extremely hard for the first 3 to 5 years not looking up much and made a lot of sacrifices to accomplish some big goals and dreams and then when I became very ill this past year the income never stopped because of all those efforts in the beginning and because I was so determined to make it work and would never give up. Remember the alternative was going to work for someone else and that was not an option.

Self-Development was always critical and there was no way around that - when I started in 1996 I had no income of my own, no credibility or contacts, no degrees, no corporate background and not much confidence. I did not even know what an email or the Internet was. So I dug in and started learning everything about Network Marketing, business, how to build a presence online from mentors and started a personal growth journey. It took money to get it going and the business is paying off!

Now the income comes in even when I cannot or do not wish to work. In other words I can take two months off without asking anyone's permission and still have an income coming in. What this means is - leverage.

Set your plan of action in motion - work your plan everyday consistently to expose your business to others - help as many people as you can to get there too - support your organization and your upline as well as the company management and do not let anyone steal your dreams-

'Hand Me Another Brick - Timeless Lessons On Leadership - How Effective Leaders Motivate Themselves And Others' by Charles Swindole. This is one of the most powerfully effective books on leadership I have ever read and I'm now reading it again for the fifth time and applying the principles to my business enterprise and relationships with people. Always growing and learning.

When you develop into a leader this is when your income really starts to grow. It does not happen the other way around. Becoming a leader takes hard work, no one is born that way. It doesn't develop when you're sitting on a beach sipping out of a coconut. Leadership develops through hardship, disappointment, sacrifice, rejection, discouragement and hearing ?no' more times than you want to count. Leaders are developed when they do not give up.

Jim Rohn says " Success is not to be pursued it is to be attracted by the person we become".

Set your dreams big and then grow into the person to achieve those dreams and you will be compensated well and build a security for yourself and your family for many years to come!

Who saw the movie with George Clooney, The Perfect Storm?

I do not mean to be insensitive to the people who went through a storm like Katrina. Believe me I know about hurricanes and storms. We have lived in the coastal area in Texas for eleven years and had to evacuate during Rita!

Let me share with you though that even though that was hard, we took advantage of the situation to spend quality time with our family! We had no choice, we were in a car for 19 hours together! It's an event we will never forget!

Now is a perfect time to expose your home based business opportunity to friends, family and everyone you meet because you never know who might be looking for an income producing business to add to their bottom line and you just might have the answer they’ve been searching for.

Yes, you could hear ‘ no thank’ you. Just think though, in today’s financial crunch you jusssst might hear a lot more YES’S!

What Is RIGHT About Network Marketing?

Network Marketing is one of the only industries that actually gives a person the chance to take back the American dream.

It allows someone like myself who barely made it out of high school, who went to college and dropped out to go to work - to build a credible career that pays as much or more than a lot of people who have college degrees earn and pays you even when you're not able to work!

Where else can someone earn an income even if they cannot work with the exception of government assistance?

In network marketing though it’s earned and not because someone is giving a handout. Instead of giving people an apple to feed them for one day teach people to plant an apple orchard and feed them for life.

The industry gives someone like myself with no experience, no income, no credibility, no contacts, no confidence, no corporate background or degrees, incredible leadership growth and experience which is priceless! So even if it was all lost today it could be done all over again because of the self-development and experience gained from being a part of this industry.

How can something be wrong about that?

There's absolutely everything right about Network Marketing for the people who see it for what it really is and start treating it like the real business it really is meant to be.

So many people get into Network Marketing with the ole ‘I'll give it a try’ attitude. They never set their enterprise up like a real business entity right from the start so it's never treated like a real business.

Network Marketing is really treated more like a hobby by many people who for the most part it doesn't have much significance or priority for them. Others outside our industry pick up on that attitude and do not take these people serious and then they wonder why people poke fun and complain about what's wrong with network marketing?

People get started and you hear them saying you mean there's an investment in this and in myself? What happens is they never really get started right in the first place and end up quitting because they simply cannot handle delayed gratification.

Entrepreneurs invest in themselves and work for no pay for many years. They understand and can handle delayed gratification because they realize that the eventual pay off can be huge. Sometimes they have losses and they overcome those too and do it all over again. They have a business minded attitude, they act and present themselves as professionals. People and business are attracted to them.

It's up to the leaders in this industry to show professionalism to our teams and to the entire industry at all times. That also means to not bash another person's company or product or try and talk them into or convince them to join yours when they are not interested.

When people decide not to build their belief in themselves and the industry they simply will not build a profitable business and then turn around and say something must be wrong with the entire industry.

It's not the industry that has the flaw, it's some of the people who tout it as easy and get rich quick to people who are cash addicted and have no priority for running a business in the first place because they never treat it like one right from the start.

My husband went to school for years, got his degree and studied for his professional license for many years and ended up with professional land surveyor licenses in five states. I remember all those grueling hours of study he had to do to accomplish this.

If he was to start a survey business it would cost us in the 100's of thousands of dollars just for all the equipment needed, office space, employees, benefits to them, etc. It would take years to see a profit and if the economy is slow there's no work and people start to be laid off!

When we brought our son James to Austin to play tennis almost a year ago he was a very weak player, a pudgy 14 year old who was 30 pounds heavier, who they had to take and mold like a piece of clay. He has had to work very hard to compete here with these kids who have been playing tennis at the academy, many of them since they were six or eight years old. Most of them are way ahead of him. He has made it this far because he has a sincere desire to become one of the top players and obtain a college scholarship. His coach said he has to do even more and it has to do mostly with his attitude to win!

For many months we thought that we had made a mistake and were wasting all this money because we just were not seeing him winning the matches and moving up in levels. It has been grueling to watch him lose match after match. Not really realizing that he's right on target with his training!

At the end of the year party we were shocked to hear that our son was giving the end of the year speech! If you all knew James you'd know he's extremely quite and shy. He barely speaks in school. He took the challenge the coach gave him and we had tears of joy when he gave his speech loud and clear in front of over 50 people including his peers! That took a tremendous amount of courage and it gave us hope and reassurance that we've done the right thing by bringing him to Austin to play tennis!

There are people who drop out of the academy because they don't see the progress quick enough. The coaches told us that by what our son is doing now we'll see the results in four more months. What he did four months ago we're seeing right now!

It's amazing to see the leader he's becoming and it's taken a huge amount of sacrifice and investment for our family to give him this opportunity! In fact, if it were not for network marketing he would not have this opportunity in the first place.

It's the same with our network marketing business. When we do all the right things now we will see the positive results come back to us in the near future. Three to four years and even five years is not much time really to invest in the freedom that network marketing provides and that my friends is what is so RIGHT about network marketing!

I'm proud of our son, love being a Network Marketer and so proud to be an American and appreciate all that network marketing has given and also excited about what we can all give back to the greatest industry in the world because they are all watching us guys and gals!

The Five Failure Factors

1. Takes too long to make money – although there are a few that pay daily, most network marketing companies pay residuals either monthly or weekly. The average new network marketer takes sixty days or longer to sponsor their first person. During that sixty days, they have paid the costs to join, bought products or activated a service, purchased marketing materials, and possibly paid to be part of an advertising co-operative or purchased leads. They have also made their list of 100 or 200 warm market prospects and are tentatively blundering through those, experiencing a great deal of rejection. All this and they made a penny in the business. NOTE: Please don’t e-mail me about your program and how it pays quicker. I know there are programs that do and that’s fine. However, I’ve been in this industry for 29 years and have watched tens of thousands of people quit because they didn’t make money quick enough.

2. Run out of warm market prospects – Social scientists say that we know 2,000 people and all we have to do is remember them and we’ve got a great base of prospects for our business. The problem with this is that there are very few of those people who are actually open to your business. Yes, they could all benefit from your product or service and from the financial and time freedom that can result from network marketing, but they still won’t join your company or mine or anyone else’s. So, that new associate is going to join your company and begin working through his/her warm market, getting “NO” after “NO” until they begin to doubt that it’s going to work for them. At that point, they are encouraged to purchase leads, which they have to call using a phone script. Most people would rather jump out of an airplane without out a chute than make cold calls to people they don’t know, so this typically doesn’t work and within 60 days or so, they quit returning your calls and e-mails and disappear into the network marketing twilight zone.

3. Afraid to approach people – Network marketing is an entrepreneurial type business that attracts primarily people who are not entrepreneurs. The problem with this is that most of the people who join your business or any other network marketing business are going to be afraid to approach people. They don’t know what to say, are afraid that someone will ask a question they can’t answer, are concerned about what other people are going to think (particularly friends and family), and are afraid someone is going to get upset with them. Fear probably destroys more dreams than anything else in life and it is very active in network marketing. Fear can very quickly drive your very excited new associate out of the business in just a matter of days or weeks.

4. Don’t know how to build on the internet – As you have probably recognized, internet marketing is the wave of the future. Everyone is talking about “social networking”, “You Tube presentations”, and funded business proposals. There are so many great opportunities for marketing on the internet and lot’s of training programs that will “teach you how to make millions on the internet.” The problem is that most of the people who join your business will not have a clue about how to build on the internet. So, the key is to find a simple, easy to understand program for marketing on the internet, that won’t distract them from their network marketing business.

5. Aren’t trained properly – Some network marketing companies and upline teams do a great job of training, however this is more of a rarity than the norm. Unfortunately, most people who join network marketing companies are never trained properly and so they fail. It’s not their fault. The key to training is to have someone who has been there, done that, and made a lot of money do the training. However, usually that type of person in your upline is either too busy with his/her own huge downline or they are off enjoying the free time that results from a big residual income. Either way, people aren’t being trained. So, what is needed is a system, developed by a successful network marketer that will help you train your downline and give them something that will enable them to train their downline.

Okay, so we know the inherent problems, what are we going to do about them? This is the question I’ve been asking myself for over a decade. Back in 1995 I uncovered some of the answers, implemented them in my network marketing business and built a large and very lucrative network in a short period of time. However, there were still some elements missing and people in my network still failed.

WHY Keep Going When The Going Gets Tough?

I've kept going for over eleven years in this business simply because the WHY and the dream is BIGGER than any of the frustrations, disapointments, highs, lows, ups and downs!

First of all I NEVER wanted to go to work for someone else and never wanted anyone telling me what to do. (just like Kim and Robert Kiyosaki say too!). It used to make me sick to my stomach to think of working for someone else!

Now it's not even a thought!

I've always been entrepreneurial since I was 6 years old, selling candy, popcorn balls and stuff in our sixth grade class, baby sitting as a teen, driving people's horse trailers for miles, doing odd jobs, anything to make a buck that was legal! hahaha!

When I discovered MLM back in the mid 80's and read John Kalench's book 'The Greatest Opportunity In the History Of The World' (my very first mlm book) it was like a light bulb came on! THIS IS IT!

I read a newspaper ad that said earn $10,000 a month and called that number locally and it was for Nuskin. That was in 1987. I had NEVER even heard of MLM before. Not even Amway! I've been hooked ever since!

Over the years though the WHY has grown larger and larger. My husband has taken care of me really since we met 30 years ago. I was 25 and had no experience in business, corporate, no degrees, no credibility or contacts, or skills really except great people skills. I was not a professional when starting out. I also did a lot of waitress work and was always in sells or customer service. Sells kept me out of
an office. haha!

He's supported me through it all, ups and downs, frustrations in the business and industry, losing money, people dropping out, not doing what they say, dissapointments, etc. etc. etc. He's seen it all and has never once ask me to QUIT!

Now he's very happy to see the FRUITS of all that labor and the freedom I've developed where I never have to go to work for anyone again.

If something God forbid were to happen to him he knows I would be ok because I've developed an income for life and created a professional career from scratch.

I have had to develop INTO a professional which Network Marketing has also given over the years as an added benefit!

So even if the income were to be taken away I know I can do it again because of the EXPERIENCE gained in this industry and that's PRICELESS!

My husband deserves the MLM SPOUSE SUPPORT award if there ever was one! hahaha!

So he is my WHY! I'm doing this so he can be FREE too! He works like a dog for his family. I want to see him retiring on Lake Travis riding in his boat when ever he wants to, running marathons again, golfing, playing tennis, whatever he chooses to do!

I want this for OTHERS who want it just as bad too. All they have to do is say so and I'm there to help them get whatever it is that they are going after! Helping lot's of people to achieve their financial freedom too! How precious is that?

I'm never giving up because this is all just way to important!

What Is Network Marketing & What To Look For When Choosing A Network Marketing Company –

In his books, Kiyosaki teachs us about the 'E' (employee) - S' (self-employed) & the B' (big business) - I' (investor) quadrants. He recommends network marketing as a 'B' business. Read his books to find out why he recommends network marketing as the perfect 'B' business. Knowledge is powerful and this is the first step in becoming a successful entrepreneur in any business.

Even if you are in the 'S' (self-employed) quadrant we recommend you start a 'B' network marketing business as well because this is where you'll earn passive residual income for leverage. In your 'S' business if you take off does your income still flow in without you? Do you have employees to manage? If they are sick who does the work? Who does most of the work anyway? Do YOU or your employees?

Do they really care about your business like you do? What would happen if you got sick or incapacitated in some way and could not work? Would your income still flow in?

Because after you build a 'B' network marketing business the income would still flow in. Income from this kind of business is passive residual just like any big business that Kiyosaki talks about. After you develop your passive residual income then it's important to start learning the 'I' side of the quadrant and start to develop assets through investments.

Kiyosaki will teach you this knowledge in his books and CD's. It will be ultimately up to YOU to apply that knowledge by taking action to develop your 'B' network marketing business and gain the knowledge to invest your income!

There have been many books written with this information. People are free to give opinions based on facts that they collect and what it all really boils down to is the person writing the book recommends their company in the end or in some subtle way by recommending a list of companies and theirs is at the top of the list. After all it's their choice and it's usually because they've been in the industry for quite some time and have the experience to back up what they're recommending. That doesn't mean people are going to listen or choose that particular company or what we recommend will be the right company for everyone.

What we recommend are guidelines. This is why we call ourselves messengers!

If this does not open your mind to what's happening in our economy then I'm not sure what will. If you are perfectly content with how things are going and you have all the money and time you want to spend with your family and loved ones, then this information just may not be appropriate for you.

First of all one of the most important things I look for in a company is - who's running the company? After all if I'm going to align my reputation with a company I'm looking for a management team of high integrity. I've worked hard to develop credibility and since I'm a person who values my own integrity, this is one of the first things I look for. If management makes bad decisions it can affect the entire company and eventually could cause the company to be shut down and then everyone loses.

Secondly I expect the management team to have experience in the Network Marketing industry preferably as successful distributors themselves. This way I know they have been in the trenches just like us and know what we go through and the benefits we're looking for as distributors.

Thirdly I like to make sure they have not been in any serious trouble and you can usually find this out if you network properly and seek advice from other experienced mentors in the industry.

The second thing I look for of course is a highly consumable product that is used up every month and reordered on a monthly basis. I also like to see a product that has a profitable retail mark up so that people can go out and sell that product and make money day one to get them into cash flow very quickly. This means it has to be a product that is unique that does not have a lot of competition such as having similar products sold in retail outlets, online stores, etc.

I like to see a product that has an almost 100% mark up in retail profit. This way if people are not interested in sponsoring and building a team (which of course we highly recommend for leverage - more on that later) they are not forced to sponsor to make money.

Look for a product that people can sell in a variety of methods such as fundraisers, craft and flea markets, home parties, online, person to person, gifts, etc. Look for a product that most people love and already buy on a regular basis. Only this product must be of much higher quality than what they are already purchasing in stores and at the same time priced comparably.

Look for a pay plan that rewards the part-timer AND the full-time network marketer who is interested in earning a 5, 6 or even 7 figure income. Look for a compensation plan that does not require you to frontload or order extra products to qualify for your commission checks.

Next I look for systems already in place so that we do not have to take up time developing our own (this is called leveraging other people's time and money which gives you more leverage).

These would be high tech cutting edge systems that anyone can plug into right away from day one without any learning curve. This means having a replicated type website that has a landing page to receive a person's contact information, an autoresponder system that drips information to them while we are doing other things (such as spending time with our family) which also has some sort of personal approach to it such as a MY STORY page with bio and photo, etc.

This way when someone visits the website and actually request more information we call them to start the relationship process by asking questions and ask how we can assist them further.

I'm all for developing a presence online with a personal website. I became very successful doing that for years. The point is it's taken me YEARS to develop that presence online using a personal website. Those personal websites took me a lot of time to develop and I'm still constantly tweaking them.

What I have found is that people want SYSTEMS to plug into NOW that do not take them weeks and weeks to develop. Having a system that a new person can plug into right away from day one where they can start introducing people to their business immediately is crucial and it's what all the successful networkers are using! I cannot stress this enough.

The next thing that is important is finding a mentor and team that are experienced and have support systems in place. I do not ever recommend that someone go online to a replicated site that they found by googling and just sign up for something with someone they have no clue about or from a spam email their receive. This is sure fire failure in my opinion and I have seen it happen over and over again. What I mean is going to a plain replicated site with no mention of who this person is or what sort of experience they have.

This is why it's so important to began your networking business by actually networking and making connections with people you meet either offline or online. There are all sorts of online communities and social networks online now where you can plug in and start networking with people and when you are in the looking zone for a company and business there will be people you can consult with.

It's important to make connections and network even with people who are already with a company who may not be interested in switching companies. I never recommend trying to shove your company onto someone's plate. That's not only inconsiderate it's rude and people will become very upset if you do this.

The most effective way to network with other likeminded people is to develop a relationship. Then down the road when someone is actually in the looking zone who are they gonna call? The person that turned them off by pushing their deal onto them or YOU who is a great networking connection? They are most likely going to contact YOU if you've build a solid relationship with them.

Anytime you find a great book, CD, online community, let other networkers know about it. This will create trust and credibility. You'll start to develop into an expert and people will seek you out.

You can read about people and find out what their experience is in the industry and how successful they are from their profile in these online communities. See what they write about, how often do they post, are they positive about the industry in general and are they truly a networker or just shoving their company in other people's faces? You'll quickly notice if they are a leader or not and what their agenda is. These are the people you see constantly advertising their company in places where people are looking for educational content and input.

Email a leader to see how quickly they respond, if they respond and how they respond. Speak with them on the phone. See if you click with them. Find out how knowledgeable they really are about the industry and find out what sort of contacts they have. Who are they connected with? This is very important because who you decide to align yourself with can ultimately connect you with other networkers. Are they serious and committed to their business and company. How successful are they? Are they just giving advice, yet have not really built an organization or made any income in the industry?

Are they an island? Or are they a delegation type of leader who works with leaders and achievers to build depth in expanding their team? I do not mean entitlement mentality and giving away just for the sake of giving or because they feel sorry for a person.

What I mean by this is - are they a leader who is really into working with specific key leaders, delegating leads and qualified contacts to them because they are committed and loyal and have EARNED the right to be in the inner circle. The inner circle are people who have proven themselves by building their organization, bringing in new partners on a consistent basis and taking action everyday to build their business. This again creates more leverage.

One of the important things I've learned over the years is about ROI which means Return On Investment. That means that everything you do you think about - what will my return on investment be on this? This also includes people you are partnered with. Everything you do in business think about what the ROI will be when you choose to do something.

When it comes to people you are helping to develop into leaders, what will your ROI be with that particular person when you delegate a lead or qualified contact to them? When you have a health issue and decide not to take care of it because it's too expensive. What will your ROI be if you decide to spend the money on your health? How much more productive are you to develop your income when you're healthy vs sick?

Every time you decide to spend money on certain educational material for your business what will your ROI be on that investment? Every time you decide to go to a company event what will your ROI be on that investment? When you invest in tools, resources, marketing, advertising for your business what will your ROI be?

An Interview With Sue Seward – Entrepreneur – Network Marketing Consultant – March 2008

1. How is Network Marketing different today than when you first started back in 1988.

Sue: It is different yet similar in that we are still networking and building relationships with people and working towards the American dream. Today however we have more tools to work with especially with the Internet.

When I started in 1996 all we had back then was our internet connections which was mainly dial up and we had email for online communication. Today we have….landing pages, team pages, websites, auto responders for drip campaigns, online message forums, online communities for networking and the list goes on for making huge connections and turning those connections into relationships and into partnerships and friendships that can lead to partnerships.

2. What attracted you to Network Marketing back then?

Sue: I never wanted anyone to tell me what to do. The same why Robert and Kim Kiyosaki had for starting their own business. The freedom to live the way I want and how I want.

3. Are there any general characteristics - personality traits - of a successful distributor?

Sue: Yes I think there is. The person who understands the fact that the more you develop yourself to become the best you can be the more income you will earn in the long run. Network Marketing is so much more than just about making money, it’s about the self-development. If you do not believe me pick up Robert Kiyosaki & Donald Trumps book ‘Why We Want You to Be Rich’ or any of Kiyosaki’s books because he strongly suggests this for becoming very successful in ANY business. The more you grow yourself the more your business will grow. It’s really that simple!

4. For someone looking at direct sale/mlm companies today, what questions should they be asking as they research different companies?

Sue: One of my long time mentors of over ten years, Rod Nichols, just wrote a book called ‘The Twelve Power Secrets For Network Marketing Success’ and list these criteria for selecting a company:

At minimum you want to find a company that displays the following characteristics:

• Has been in network marketing for at least two years, preferably 5 years or more
• Has a management team that is experienced in network marketing, is assertive, and yet fiscally conservative
• Markets a product or service that is in high demand and is either unique or priced lower than equivalent products in the market
• Has no long-term debt and is financially strong
• Offers excellent training and marketing materials
• Supplies network communication systems such as voice mail, e-mail, web pages, conference calls, etc.
• Offers a program where both distributors and customers buy directly from the company
• Has a compensation plan that is both fair for the average part-time distributor and lucrative enough for the full-time heavy hitter
• Is involved in or has plans for international growth
• Has a company web page and offers e-commerce associate pages either free or at a reasonable price compared to the market
• Operates at a high level of integrity in all areas

If your company or the company you are considering has all of these characteristics, you have probably joined or found a reputable organization that will be around for many years and contribute to your success as a network marketer.

A couple of other things to consider if you’re looking at a company you’ve found online:

Check to make sure there’s a real physical address for the company and call the company phone number to see who answers and ask questions, check out their customer service, etc.

Order some products first to see if you like and would use and recommend them to others.

Find out what sort of marketing tools they have such as conference calls, training, brochures, catalogs, websites, etc.

If you are speaking with someone who is not very experienced request a 3/way with their upline to check out their team and who you would be partnered with. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve had people email me and say I signed up with someone who has no clue what to do, can you help me!!

5. Who have been your mentors over the years and why?

Sue: There are so many of them. In Network Marketing - Rod Nichols has been a mentor for over 10 years, he’s not only been a business partner he’s also a good friend, Jim Rohn, Mark Gorman, Mark Yarnell, Dani Johnson, Brian Tracy, T.Harv Eker, Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Trump for business.

I’m now studying about real estate investment from Robert and Kim Kiyosaki because this is where I’m at in my educational process of learning and growing. I want to make sure that I invest my Network Marketing income wisely and learn how to improve my financial IQ. I just attended a seminar up in Dallas a few weekends ago for the launch of the Success Magazine. What I’m learning is absolutely fascinating. I’m particular interested in what Kim Kiyosaki is teaching women about financial independence which started with her book ‘Rich Woman’.

Because she had the same why I had for starting my own business. I did not want anyone telling me what to do.

6. Was there one defining moment for you in your Network Marketing career?

Sue: Yes when I finally realized that I had done it! I also depended totally on my husband back then in 1996 for everything. I had no income of my own, was totally dependent on him for everything. I had no degrees, no corporate back ground, no credibility or contacts, not much experience and no confidence. I’ve built a credible career in Network Marketing in the last eleven years and an income that will sustain me now if God forbid something were to happen to him. He’s very proud of me. I would like to see all women achieve this financial independence and I’m on a mission to help Kim spread the word.

7. What about the phrases: "This is not a get rich quick scheme." and “Is this a pyramid scheme?" Can you talk about why these phrases have been closely associated with Network Marketing and how you address them when you are speaking with a prospect looking at partnering with you?

Sue: Well to tell you the truth I do not hear these phrases very much any more and it’s probably because I just do not think anything about it anymore. I have total belief in this industry and in myself and I believe that comes across to people who I’m speaking with. It just doesn’t come up. If it does I would say this:

Do you work? And they say yes….Do you have a boss? And they say yeah…. does your boss make more than YOU do…usually the answer is YES…..do they have a boss? And they say yeah….do you think their boss makes more then them? Well of course….do they have a boss? Yeah I bet that boss makes even more huh?….that’s a PYRAMID…. in fact, our entire government system is a pyramid and that pretty much covers it. People who use this word are usually saying it because it’s sort of a knee jerk reaction. They just are not educated on our industry.

Now days though many more people are looking at this industry so they are either going to join you in your company or they are going to join someone else in their company! So it’s always important to note to let your friends and family at least now what you are doing and that you support Network Marketing 100%!

-Network Marketing is well over 50 years old and is legal in all 50 states and 125 countries…
-The Network Marketing industry does about $100 billion in retail sales annually
-There are approximately 50 million distributors worldwide (14 million in the US)
-An estimated 50,000 people join Network Marketing companies weekly
-Business Start –Ups Magazine (a division of Entrepreneur Magazine) rated Network Marketing as one of its 100 Best Businesses to start.
-In a recent comparison publicly traded network marketing companies outperformed both the Dow and S&P 500 by nearly 80%!
-In an issue of Entrepreneur Magazine they wrote ‘Literally thousands of people are realizing annual incomes in excel of $100,000.”

I happen to be one of those people!

As far as the get rich quick scheme goes….there’s a lot of those out there and the reason people fall for them is because they are DESPERATE, period. Everyone wants to make a million dollars; they just don’t want to do a million dollars worth of work.

This business takes work. In fact, being in business for yourself is actually more work and harder than anything you will ever do. It’s also worth it because within 5 years you can have the freedom to live where you want, how you want and work with whom ever you want.

Keep on working for someone else and in five years you are still working for someone else! In fact, most people work for someone else for 25, 30 years or longer and then end up broke and broken down! Beaten to the ground and never saw their kids growing up! How sad is that? Parents are working longer hours and spending less time together with their children, husbands and wives spending less time together and is likely a huge factor in the high increase in divorces, teen pregnancies, teen alcoholism/drug usage and runaways.

Jim Rohn always says “I’m working full-time on my JOB while working part-time on my fortune!”

8. What professional rewards have you achieved in your Network Marketing career?

Sue: The biggest reward that I’ve achieved is the fact that I’ve built a credible career and one that my family and I are very proud of. Throughout the years I’ve made connections with people in all walks of life, ceo’s, business owners, corporate professionals, network marketers, moms, dads, truck drivers, school teachers, doctors, attorneys, cpas, and I’ve partnered with many of them.

I’ve also had the pleasure of helping a lot of people to grow in this industry and that’s really rewarding to give back and see people becoming they best they can be.

That’s not really called work to me! It’s something I’ve always loved! Helping people!

9. What about this idea of "leadership" and "the law of attraction”? Can you tell us in your own words how these two concepts are applicable to direct sale/Network Marketing?

Sue: It’s really important and actually crucial for people to understand the importance of becoming a leader. When you grow yourself and become a leader you will get paid as a leader. It’s really that simple. Doing it is the tough part and doing it long enough to see the fruits of your labor is what takes courage and patience!

Most people get into Network Marketing and just want money now. They don’t understand why do I have to read all this stuff and listen to these cd’s go to seminars? Where’s the money? They have a really tough time with delayed gratification.

Becoming a leader is all about getting through the rejection and that’s the part that’s the toughest I think. A lot of people will quit with the first no they hear. They tuck their tail and run back to their same ole life and just settle.

I was never going to do that. The alternative for me was either working for someone else or not working and making any income of my own and having to depend on my husband for the rest of my life and there was no way I was gonna do that. So I got through the rejection! And it got easier and easier and easier!

Mainly because I was a student of this industry and stuck to my mentors like glue and listened to every conference call, went to company conventions, read every book I could get my hands on and every CD and some of them over and over again.

I remember one time after listening to a team call for about two years every Thursday night at the same time and heard the same stories and info over and over about a million times the leader did not show up for the call.

Everyone said Sue why don’t you do the call? I remember this like it was yesterday! I was petrified! Guess what?

I stepped up the plate and did that call and it poured out of me like a funnel! Because I had heard it so many times before! I’ve been doing them since. My next step was going on stage in the year 2000 in front of over 4000 people.

Again I was terrified! Once I conquered that fear though I thought wow another milestone met! Now I speak all the time in front of groups of people. Do I still get nervous? Yes of course I still do and I absolutely love it! Because every time is a growing experience.

Does this mean every Network Marketer has to speak in public? Absolutely not! It was a way for me though to get out of my comfort zone and conquer my fears and grow into a better person! It's the person you become that counts.

When you really do start to understand this and DO IT you will be amazed at how your income will start to climb. When you help others that you bring into your business understand this your income will continue to grow. People will automatically start to become attracted to you because they want to be mentored by you! It all takes TIME! Any business does.

The beauty of our industry is that we have the opportunity to really develop into a better person. Even if we didn't get paid a dime the self-development educational process alone will lead a person to a better income any where they go and that's the real truth.

This is what Kiyosaki says. He says in the traditional business world if you don’t cut it in 6 months you are FIRED!

In network – marketing you can take years to develop and in 3 to 5 years you can obtain total freedom to have the choices to live your own life. 3 to 5 years is nothing compared to working for 40 years for someone else! That goes by with the blink of an eye when you are working ON yourself and ON developing your business consistently!

When you are working on the self-development and listening to all the cd’s and going to the seminars you are getting POSITIVE reinforcement to GET YOU GOING and KEEP you going!

The more you improve yourself the more you want to continue to improve and as you do your income continues to increase! It’s also not about just having more money because having more money doesn’t always solve our problems does it? It’s about how to keep your money and know how to invest it and make it work for you. This is also what I’m learning from the Kiyosaki’s.

There are people who win the lottery only to end up broke again within a few years because they had no clue how to manage their money and went out and splurged it all on junk.

A lot of Network Marketers do the same thing. They never really learned how to invest it so this is another key area to understand and one that I’m on a mission to learn and teach more on.

When you really do GET THIS and you decide never to give up, you will eventually achieve total FREEDOM.

10.What is this concept of leverage we all keep hearing about in building a network-marketing business?

Sue: Well to tell you the truth this is really the most valuable asset to building a business like network-marketing. Leveraging other people's time and money is where you begin to leverage yourself in any business. Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump both speak about this in their books.

In a network-marketing business we have the perfect way to do this by building teams where our long term focus is passive residual income. This is income you earn for doing some one time and it continues to grow even when you are not working.

For instance this past year, I was in a transition moving my son up to Austin to play level 1 tennis up at a well known tennis academy and then became seriously ill for about five months.

For about half of 2007 I was really not able to work much yet my income continued to increase as my organization grew without me doing a lot of personal sponsoring.

If I had been in a traditional job or corporate position I would have been FIRED as the Donald would say!

If I was a self-employed person such as a CPA, doctor, lawyer, personal coach, small business owner that depends on seeing clients to get paid, I would have most likely lost all my clients and my business and thus my income would have dried up. This is why I always recommend a person in this case start a part-time 'B' Network Marketing business on the side for leveraged passive income (call it for a rainey day ).

If I was only retailing products I would have been broke.

Because I had built a 'B' business as Kiyosaki calls the right side of the quadrant, my income kept growing from what I had done previously. That's called leveraged passive residual income and that's what Network Marketing offers and it's why Robert Kiyosaki recommends Network Marketing as a perfect 'B' business.

11. Sue, you have been a part of direct sale/Network Marketing industry for over 15 years.) In hindsight, if there was one thing you could go back and do all over again - based on your years of experience - what would you do differently?

Sue: Actually, I would listen to my husband more! He has said more than once, I told you so! I'm pretty stubborn. He is my advisor and my friend and my partner in life (for 32 years) and one day soon he will be my partner in this business full time helping me make the right business decisions! This is a huge why and has been for quite some time.

I’ve done really well in developing myself and making connections and in developing a full time income and along the way have made some business mistakes and that’s what I’m focusing on now by studying with the Kiyosaki’s.

12. For the listeners out there, what would you encourage them to do if they are interested in getting more information about Network Marketing?

Sue: I would encourage them to visit my website if they are new to looking at this industry and I’d be happy to consult with them about it and find out more about them and what they are interested in and consult with them on what direction to go in and if I feel they would be right for this business.

It’s really not for everyone. Anyone can do this -

However, not everyone will do what it takes to become an entrepreneur. They may be coming from an employee background and that’s all they know how to do. They have had someone telling them what to do, when to do it and how high to jump for all their life.

If they decide not to continue living that life and are willing to step out of their comfort zone and become someone better and stronger and want a better life it all starts with DESIRE, knowing what you want and WHY you want it and then learning while taking ACTION to get it done.

Freedom In MLM – What’s The Real Price?

You may have heard of the CD with Robert Kiyosaki called ‘The Perfect Business’. My team and I have decided to use this when we are out and about networking in our local areas and in our networking online.

Here are some of my thoughts on this CD as I have also just listened to it again for about the 20th time. I had not listened to it in a while and just realized it’s only about 15 minutes and yet quite powerful and eye opening.

I truly believe that this 15 minute interview with Kiyosaki has the ability to open some possibilities for many people who are struggling with the idea of starting an MLM business but still have some negative ideas in the back of their mind, myths they’ve either heard or some well meaning friend or family member put in their mind that have stuck and kept them from moving forward.

Make sure you are passing this CD out! Listen to it yourself over and over again until it is ingrained in your mind to help you become more and more strong in your belief of this industry and what it can really do to give you freedom! Here’s a message I sent to the owners of our particular company and to our leader’s council after one of our owners received a complaint from someone in the field about selling products, people who quit, and when changes are made that they are not happy with.

Here's my professional opinion after 18 years of growing in the industry.

Sometimes people are thinking too small and are not seeing the BIG picture of what MLM can really do to give them freedom of choice.

It appears they may not be building a residual income and if they keep thinking on a smaller scale they most likely never will build a long term walk away income to experience true freedom. People are always going to quit. That's just the nature of any business. Most people cannot handle delayed gratification.

They put their emphasis on selling a few products here and there and teaching others to do the same without really plugging them into the BIG picture of educating them on creating long term wealth.

What happens is they end up with a self-employed business. When they do not work their income stops. In other words if they do not sell products themselves their income stops.

That's not my idea of building long term financial freedom. Personally I do not do a lot of retailing but it’s been my choice. I do however have many in an organization of 4,000 who do because they have that choice and make that decision.

I love the fact that we have a RETAILABLE product. That's a real plus and not something I've really had in my 18 years in this industry. Most of the products have been very costly wholesale and there's not much room for profit markup so we have been forced to sponsor to earn income.

It's great for people to also be able to put cash in their pocket immediately while teaching them HOW to generate long term financial walk away income which is what takes a bit longer if someone does not already have large networks to tap into.

It's also very important to have a product that can be retailed because that's what makes it a legitimate Network Marketing business.

If there's no product and all you are doing is signing people into some sort of scheme it's not likely legal. I'm not an attorney though so make sure you check with someone who is before you sign up for something questionable.

My job is to teach people how to network effectively and finding people with large networks while they are developing their own networks!

Our MLM business is our retirement because we know that the government is NOT going to take care of us, our 401K is NOT going to take care of us and the ECONOMY is certainly NOT going to take care of us!

What I've put into my MLM business for the last eleven years however will take care of us for the rest of our lives and I plan to continue to build it to millionaire status and because of WHAT I have learned and because of the personal growth AND the networks I've built in the last eleven years online it has no doubt the ability to continue to do this for us.

I didn't do that with a $50 fast start bonus mentality or by selling a few products here and there. I do however have thousands of distributors selling lot’s of products because I brought in a few networkers who brought in others, who brought in others, and so on. And we are bringing in more networkers to continue this cycle.

Some have dropped out along the way and that's called attrition. It's a lot lower though than other companies that I've built in another industry! We just bring in more networkers.

I never wanted anyone telling me what to do and that's why I gravitated towards MLM in the first place 18 years ago. Robert Kiyosaki had the same why for being in business for himself.

The people who are complaining probably do not quite understand the part of becoming a stronger, better more FOCUSED business person...which takes the process of learning, growing, listening to CD's, reading books, going to events and building networks AND finding people who have LARGE networks!

The stronger leader you become the more people will follow you and your income and theirs will grow. That's really it in a nutshell.

Jim Rohn says, "Success is not to be pursued; it is to be attracted by the person we become".

The rich build networks and the rest look for work. When you are ONLY selling products and not building a network at the same time you are doing all the work yourself and when you stop selling products your income stops. It's that simple.

We've all heard that Network Marketing is about building relationships! It really is more about other people and helping them get what they want. When you stop seeing it as a cash machine and instead start to think more about how to serve other people something remarkable begins to happen.

People begin to seek you out. In other words, taking a servants attitude. Think about what you can do to help other people. Believe it or not this is also a smart way to really find out if someone is right for your business.

You may have heard Zig Ziglars famous saying, “You can have anything you want if you help enough people get what they want!” This is our motto in Network Marketing!

Does it feel like sometimes all you do is give, give, give and it seems that nothing is coming back? I can relate and want to assure you that with patience, persistence, consistent efforts and genuine caring for people all of a sudden you'll start seeing more people starting to contact you. You'll begin to form relationships with them which eventually become a very solid foundation in which you can begin to build your fortune on at the same time helping them to build theirs!

Building strong relationships is also possible to do by meeting and connecting with people you meet through the Internet. I know because I've done it very effectively in the last eleven years building a solid career in Network Marketing online.

What I've seen and heard many people do is sign up a lot of people in their programs online and then never really have any other form of contact with them after this initial sign up process. There’s no real long term relationship built.

What that means is no one ever speaks with them on the phone or meets them in person. I have been able to form relationships online because of constant contact via email, the phone and have even met people in my Network Marketing business at events around the country. This really helps people get to know you when they meet you in person. Strong bonds can be formed and lasting friendships made. It solidifies the relationship and that can create a business to last a lifetime.

Networking can be a lot of fun when the genuine purpose is to get to know people.
When meeting people on the Internet or off the Internet, find out what they are interested in before you go babbling on about your company, products, and business opportunity.

After all, some people believe it or not, may not be interested in your fabulous company or your great products until you show them that you genuinely care about them and find out if they are in the looking zone. They might be in the middle of a huge crisis in their life and the timing just may not be right for them.

I'm not talking about getting into the Mother Teresa syndrome or turning your business into a welfare line. I’m talking about being compassionate.

You can do this by listening very intently to find out where a person is in their life and then see how you can serve them. Sometimes they could be having so many personal problems that you just have to move away from them. So listen carefully and then determine if they are ready to help themselves first.

No matter what a person’s situation though they still may not be interested in what you're doing and that's perfectly ok, it's nothing personal! The important thing is to be rspectful of their decision and where they are in their life at this moment and to realize they are just not in the looking zone right now.

Rmember that timing is everything! Just stay focused on them, find out what they want and stay in touch periodically to see how they are doing and how things have changed in their lives.

Also keep in mind that owning a business will not be for everyone. Not everyone will have the determination it takes to be an entrepreneur so try not to beat yourself up to much if someone isn’t as entrepreneurial as you or have a desire to change and move in the same direction.

If someone gives any indication that they think they will get rich very quickly or that you are going to do all the work for them then they just may not be cut out for the hard work and dedication that owning a business demands on your time. Most people do start out part time so it's important to find what what sort of time limits they have for building their business.

Focus on finding the right people who are positive and stay clear of the whiners and complainers. Spend your time and energy on the positive ones and make sure they deserve your time. Granma used to say "You would complain if you were hung with a new rope"! My grandma was a very wise woman! You'll want to serve others and at the same time help people to understand that they must earn your valuable time.

So how do you find out if what you're doing is right for someone you meet through the Internet or in your local day to day environment?

By asking plenty of questions! Ask what you can do for THEM and then really listen to see if they are someone who would be a good partner for your business and find out what they plan to do. Asking questions also leads to more questions until you get to know one another a bit better.

Your job as a good sponsor is to be like a detective, sort of like Columbo. You are the bridge that will help to get them where they want to go. Your responsibility as a good sponsor is to always have their best interest at heart. You are the bridge not the wheelchair! They've got to be willing to walk over that bridge with you by their side.

Find out what they do for a living. What are their hobbies? Are they satisfied with their life the way it’s going? What would they like to do? How would they like to change their life? What's important to them? Where do they want to be in the next 5 years?

What have they done so far to move closer to their dreams and goals? Do they have a vision and what is that vision? If they do great, if not help them put their vision down on paper. If they keep doing what they are now will they reach their goals?

Are they coachable? Are they positive about life? Do they have a desire to help others too? Do they want to learn and grow or just stay where they are? Are they willing to do what it takes and stay the course no matter what? How do they feel about being a good sponsor?

Find out if they have experience in Network Marketing and if so find out all about it. Ask them what their thoughts are about the industry. Were they successful in the past and if not find out what they feel was the reason they didn’t move forward and if they were what did they do to reach that level of success. What do they need to move to the next level? How can you help? Are they willing to help you too?

Let them know you’re looking for ambitious, outgoing, friendly, positive people who want to change their life for the better. Does that describe them?

Here are some other questions to ask when making connections and networking with people you meet online and offline:

What attracted them to this opportunity and to Network Marketing? What sort of business are they looking for? Do they have experience in direct sales, network marketing, or have they ever owned a business? Ask them if training and support are important to them Are they a team player?

What is their time table for taking action? Do they have a budget in mind to start their business? How much time are they willing to commit to their business during the week? Are they coachable? How do they see themselves building their network marketing business and why do they want to start their own business.

Sometimes people may not show an interest in your company or products but they may just be interested in YOU when you show a genuine interest in THEM by asking not what Network Marketing can do for YOU but what can YOU do for Network Marketing!

I think the call was great because it gave me more encouragement and insight to get even more focused on planning out my goals and to reach those goals by putting my feet in motion. Enough of the talk and games, it's really time to get busy. If I'm planning to not work for anyone one of these days soon, then I must get focused and get my team focused and keep building and selling. I am now really thinking out my plans and short-term goals in order to reach my long-term goals. Success Tips For Working At Home With The MLM Business Model

Notice the word ‘work’ in this article's title. That’s right any business takes hard work to develop over time and a home based MLM business is no different.

Just think of yourself as the CEO of a major corporation. Because that’s what you really are with your MLM home business which has the potential to actually pay you like a CEO of any corporation and sometimes even more!

Treating an MLM home business like a REAL business will ultimately create wealth like a REAL business. This is where most people fall through the cracks so to speak because they just do not understand business and what it takes to succeed in one.

Many start an MLM home business with a ‘‘I’ll give it a try’’ attitude and it ends up being a hobby which ultimately pays like a hobby and all that really means is no profits like a business can generate.

Thinking like a CEO of a major corporation will help you to position yourself and condition your mindset to realizing that you are your own boss instead of having an employee ball and chain mindset. You are the one making the decisions for your future and the decisions you make will either give you long term financial freedom in MLM or long term slavery. Which one do you choose?

It’s important for any MLM business person to set up a business plan for their future. Our team uses a written business plan that is sent out to each new partner because this shows that we are in business to make a profit vs having a hobby.

Think about where you’d like to be five years from now. The decisions you make now will affect that outcome. Set your 5 year, one year and one month goals. Write them down. Do not be afraid to dream BIG! Remember a goal is a dream with a deadline! Once you obtain one goal set a new and bigger one.

Make sure you set realistic daily goals you can achieve every single day that will lead up to your longer term goals and do not be afraid to change your goals and stretch to reach bigger ones.

Prioritize your to do list and do the most important things first that are ultimately going to help you reach your long term goals. This usually means prospecting. Anything that has to do with you speaking with people about your MLM home business and products are going to be productive and help you to reach your long term goals.

The most important thing is to avoid procrastination to get where you want to be in five years.

Devote a certain number of hours a week to your MLM home business. This will depend on your lifestyle and other activities that are important such as a full time job, taking care of your family, church activities, sports activities and other important priorities in your life.

Putting a timer on your desk to help stay on track and to finish an important task without being sidetracked could help. The Internet is a great way to get sidetracked!

Places like yahoo groups, online communities, instant messenger are all ways to meet and communicate with people online but they can also be very distracting if a person gets caught up for hours in these areas. Make sure to use them wisely and productively and always keep a business mindset because ultimately the long term goal is to build a business using these resources.

Develop a productive routine that helps you to obtain your short term goals that will lead up to your long term goals. Stay organized and focused with that long term big dream in mind at all times. This is why it’s important to write goals down or put photos up to always keep your mind refreshed on WHY you started an MLM home business in the first place.

Surround yourself with positive likeminded people who have similar goals and constantly be on the lookout for business minded people. Take on a professional attitude and look professional when you go out and are approaching people about your business.

If you are building an online presence make sure you have a personal photo on your website. Having a professional one taken is even better. This is the first thing people see when they visit your MLM website. They are looking for leadership and professionalism and someone who is serious about their business.

Always put a personal photo on your profile in the online communities. This is crucial to your success as a business person! Never use abstract pictures. This will not present you in a professional business manner and people simply will not take you seriously or look to you for business advice.

Make sure that you are saving all of your receipts for tax purposes and find an accountant that understands MLM and home business. There are many excellent tax deduction advantages available to you as a home based business owner and you may be missing out on them because you are not seeking proper tax advice.

This is why it’s so important to have a business plan in place to show you have a serious intent to make a profit. It’s also a great way to stay focused on goals.

Speak with everyone you know and meet about your business and hand out business cards. If you opened a book store or a boutique you would tell everyone you know about it right? Then why not tell people you know about your Network Marketing business?

It just does not make sense not to does it? After all when you are a serious business owner you are constantly thinking of how to move your business forward into a profit. You would be advertising, you would have expenses to run your store, you would be hiring employees and managing them and you would be keeping records for tax purposes.

MLM is really no different than having any other business and there are some significant advantages.

There are no overhead expenses or employees to manage while offering the same tax advantages available to all small business owners today. Just make sure the MLM company you choose does not have inventory requirements or heavy group volume requirements to earn commissions.

If a company requires you to buy a large amount of product up front to start it’s called ‘frontloading’ and this is usually not a positive thing. People many times get caught up with products they are not able to retail so they tend to sit in their garage or cupboards. This is where the term ‘garage qualified’ comes from. It’s why the media often pokes fun at the MLM industry.

Most companies require you to first purchase some type of ‘starter or distributor kit’. This is a one time cost and is usually under a $100.

You will also have monthly expenses for office supplies, postage, advertising and depending on how you market you could have expenses for some type of online marketing system to run your prospects through. Remember to get with your accountant to find out about your tax deductable business expenses.

You should not be required to pay more than $39 to $100 to start an MLM home business with the actual company. This also does not mean that you take your business LESS seriously!

On the contrary, a home business has the same amount of potential or sometimes even more than any other business. It depends on the person starting the business to take it seriously enough for it to create the kind of wealth potential it really has.

When you become a distributor for an MLM, Network Marketing, or Direct Selling company (these are all one in the same) this gives you the right to sell that companies products and services to others. When you are selling products you are in business. When you are sharing you have a hobby so think about that concept.

Again if you owned a store front you would not be sharing products would you?

How long do you think your home business would stay open if all you did was ‘share’ your products with people who came into your store?

Business owners sell products. People who have a hobby share products. It’s that simple.

You will however share the home business concept. This is when selling and convincing is not necessary. When it comes to sharing your business concept all you do is give a person one of the resources recommended below so that they can make the decision for themselves. You are just educating them on your business concept.

If you are still not sold on the validity of starting an MLM business and it’s potential simply go out and pick up a few of Robert Kiyosaki’s books and/or cds.

In fact, he just wrote a new one with Donald Trump called ‘We Want You To Be Rich’ where in chapter 27 they are extremely positive about recommending the MLM business model. Get some of Kiyosaki’s CD’s ‘The Perfect Business’ to hand out to people to educate them on the MLM home business model. Let these expert professional business owners do the explaining for you.

When someone ask you how you’re doing tell them you are right on track to achieve your goals!

Most traditional businesses do not make a profit for years and in fact, many go out of business within the first two years. So why on earth should you be ashamed when you start your home business and in a few months when you are not stinkin filthy rich, one of your friends ask you if you’re making any money and you become embarrassed to tell them about it.

Just tell the truth. You’re in a real business and any business takes money, time and work! This is not the lottery! It’s a business! Most business minded people you speak with will understand this concept so do not worry if your friends and family do not. Your job is to be the messenger. If they have been misinformed, burned in the past or do not understand the MLM business model, lead them to the resources and then move on. They have to decide if they are interested in becoming a business owner or not. It’s not your job to convince them.

This is another reason to find the right company with a product that has real RETAIL value built in so that you are able to start profiting by putting cash in your pocket immediately as soon as you receive your products!

If you have a product that is not retailable it’s going to be really tough to put immediate cash in your pocket. You’ll be forced to do more sponsoring to find more wholesale buyers to purchase and consume your products and this can take a lot longer for you to start making a profit right away in your business.

Start believing, thinking and acting like a business person. Be professional, put your plan in place, take action everyday to achieve your goals, never give up and you will eventually become successful in your home business. How successful? That really depends on you! Start right now! Your future is waiting!

Holiday Planting Season Brings A New Year Harvest!

Just because people are very busy during the holiday season with shopping, family gatherings, traveling, cooking, baking, cleaning and putting up decorations does not mean they may not have business on their mind.

They are just a bit distracted.

Try not to make the mistake of thinking that this would be a good time for you to shut down your prospecting efforts especially those who are brand new or just starting a business.

Do the opposite of most people and perk up your holiday planting efforts during this season!

Make sure you're still planting lot’s of seeds! Even though it seems like no one is listening or ready to get started with you in your business.

Get the emails out, let those autoresponders do their job and make sure to send out personal emails, Christmas greetings and letters (with your website link and email of course), flyers and business cards.

Because when January rolls around there will be people interested in earning extra income. They may also be looking for a home business so they can benefit from the great tax deductions.

My upline came on board my current company on Christmas Eve and she’s a 6 figure income like myself. So networkers and professionals like us are in the looking zone even during the holidays!

So make sure you always keep YOUR name in front of lot’s of people every day so that they remember WHO to call when they are in the looking zone!

Trust me! I remember back in 1996 when I started with a company that I was with for many years. I signed up in November during the holidays!

I remember back then though that it seemed like NO one was listening, or reading the emails or interested in anything I was doing and it was getting to be quite frustrating to say the least so I know what it’s like because I’ve been in your shoes!

Everyone was SO busy, preoccupied with the holiday season. I'd hear "get back to me after the holidays!" "Call me after the first of the year." This can be quite frustrating to a new person just starting out.

I can't tell you HOW many times I heard those two statements! In fact, I still do even after all these years!

THEN to top it all off, in 1996 when I started online, I got really sick in December right before Christmas with a double ear infection and was the sickest I've ever been for three weeks.

It paid off because in January I signed up my FIRST distributor with that company back in 1997, in February my second and that started it all because THAT March I started getting regular weekly checks.

Now I have a solid and profitable career that pays me even when I’m down and not feeling well or I’m off having fun on a business trip or we are spending time at our lake house on Lake Travis in Austin.

It’s taken a lot of seed planting and all that seed planting has brought in a great harvest year after year!

The excellent thing about Network Marketing is the eventual long term leverage that develops.

All those seeds planted many years ago are STILL bringing in a bountiful harvest today and will continue to for years from now!

Others that slow down during the holidays will just have to catch up with those who keep on planting!

When you've been involved in network marketing for as long as I have you think you've "seen it all".

Making connections is extremely important and here's why as well as some of the ways to become a better connector for profits!

Remember that it’s about the marketing. You can have the best company, product, management team, compensation plan in the whole world but if you do not have a good marketing system to plug people into they will most likely flounder in their business.

Network Marketing is a people business. It's all about people and what they want! If you don't find out what they want by connecting with them it can cause you and them a lot of frustration. You also find out what they want by plugging them into your marketing system. They will tell you if they are interested and would like to form a partnership with you in business.

Have a good marketing system to plug people into will have people coming to you.

First connect with people and find out what their desires are, their whys for wanting to earn some extra money or start a whole new career and then help them with a plan to market their business.

In order to become a better connector it takes networking with lot's of people including people in your own industry that are in other companies. Yes! thats right! Building relationships with other networkers is important because you never know when they may be looking for something and they are most likely going to get in touch with someone they’ve built a solid relationship with.

You never know when your paths will cross and you end up doing business together. So it’s crucial to keep those bridges in tact. If you happen to not connect then you could lose out on a great potential business partnership. Not to mention the valuable friendships created in the process.

How do we make connections with people? I've been doing this for over ten years with people by building relationships through the Internet and phone. I've met many people personally and have spent time with them and their families at company and other industry training events around the country. I appreciate each and every one of them.

It’s important to always keep an open mind. You're a business person so make connections with all sorts of people where ever you go. If you stay closed minded and only connect with people in your own company or industry you could be losing out on some valuable resources to help you grow yourself and your business.

Connect with people by asking questions and keeping things simple. When you ask you automatically get answers and a natural conversation starts to develop. When all you do is tell, tell, tell, you don't get any answers because you're not connecting with someone.

Where do these connections take place? Everywhere you go! When you're out doing errands, shopping, volunteering at the school, jobs, on airplanes, in airports, on vacation, with realtors when you're looking at property, at social functions, at family gatherings, in online marketing forums, company events, training events. Even when someone is reading an article they are connecting with the author.

Does this mean to shove a business and product down someone’s throat! Absolutely not! You are connecting with a person! That means asking about them and genuinely taking an interest in what they are saying and what they are not saying. So it’s about listening and learning! By doing this it’s easy to find out how to actually help a person and determine what direction they may want to focus on.

The mission is to be the messenger. It's not to push, shove, manipulate or force people. The mission is to lead, guide, prompt and suggest. It is the responsibility of each person to give willingly for their own purpose. Sometimes it takes longer with one person than another but it's up to them to decide in which direction they’d like to take the partnership.

Some of the ways to connect is through using technology. The Internet is an excellent way to connect with lot's of different people by using email, online marketing systems, message forums and online communities communities.

Some of the communities where I network and connect with people are ryze.com, mlm.com, mlmforums.com, ivwcc.com, mydswa.com, powerfulintentions.com, mlmwoman.com ,internetbasedfamilies, and there are many others. Just do a google search! These are not places for advertising, they are a place to connect with like minded people!

When you do use technology though remember to turn the high tech into high touch and that means connecting by being interested in people and finding out what they do, where they live, do they love what they do, what are their hobbies, are they married, do they have children, granchildren, are they happy with how their life is going, are they looking for a change?

Here's something else to consider.

Does someone you have met even want to connect with you and you them? It’s important not to force a connection if someone isn’t interested.

Make connections, build rapport that turns into long term relationships and those relationships can turn out to be an exceptional business connection which means you and THEM making money in Network Marketing!

The phone of course is another personal way to connect. Use it often and use it properly by asking those connecting questions above. There are also some excellent video email programs that are very useful in making a more personal connection with people online.

Making connections with people could end up being the most important thing you not only do for yourself but when you teach others to do this too think of the income possibilities for you and them.

Everyone connecting and actually helping each other find positive solutions. What a concept huh?
